I had a friend blind pin a few flash hiders for me and one job went terribly wrong. He drilled into the bore and now I think he FUBARed the barrel.
The barrel is a 14.5" M4 style barrel and a Phantom Brake was being installed. Will this barrel shoot or do I need to cut it back have it threaded again?
I haven’t fired it, but wasn’t sure if the hole would affect the accuracy since its so close to where the rifling ends. I would imagine that it would foul up during firing, but wasn’t sure if it was salvageable.
I’ve had him “hack” on my guns for about 15 years…this was the very first FUBAR he has ever had. A tough lesson for both of us, but I’m sure we won’t let it happen again.
I plan on shooting it and if it doesn’t run, then I will send it to ADCO for a cut down to 11.5".
well if it his mistake has he not offered to replace ?If I Fubar’ed someone barrel I would replace it.I am sure it was a honest mistake ,But I would still expect it to be replace just my.02 Good Luck
It was an honest mistake and he did offer to replace the barrel, but I told him no. He was doing me a favor and it went bad. No foul there, but I will shoot it and see how it turns out. If it doesn’t run, I’ll have ADCO cut it down for me.
K9,
While not maybe the ideal option, you could cut it to 13.7 and put a pig on it. I know that many find this type of mod useless but John has been selling a ton of them like this. I believe the pig weighs some where in the 8oz range. Not sure what 2.4 inches of barrel and a flash hider weigh but it might not be too bad. Just an idea to keep from having to go the SBR route…
