Blackwater Gear I-O plate carrier w/cummerbund???

Anyone here have any experience with this plate carrier? From what little info I can find, it looks well made with padding in the right places. I believe it is also made in the US from what I have read on it. Not sure though due to the limited amount of info out there. I ordered one in Multi-Cam and if it does not fit well or isnt what I expected, it will go up on ebay as they seem to be fetching a premium on there for the MC versions.

Any info is appreciated.

Did you ever get your plate carrier, how do you like it?

Yes, I got it. I am still in the process of setting it up, as I dont have all of the pouches that I need to finish it off. It feels very comfortable on, and supports the plates well. While it does truly appear to be well made with quality stiching, etc. I cant say what the long term durability will be, as only time will tell. But so far, so good…

hmm. how small does this thing get? I like my PC’s really tight, and the one I use currently does not get down to the size I like without making it as small as possible.

With my plates installed, its contours to my body well. I am a size Large and I can get it very snug with or without my soft body armor on underneath.

well, I wear a medium. can you tell if it can get much smaller?

Th burning question is how do those buckles interact with shouldering your rifle???

Are they in the way??

Does you butt-stock get hung up on them??

mega +1

I have no experience with this rig, but I do have exp with the BW pouches and Pack.

The black cloth on the back of the pouches rips very easily and the pack blew out a PALS loop before it had ever left the house for a trip.

I think there are better options

I have this answer. Hold on lemme find it on TOS in my inbox. I asked the same thing from a guy who has one.

ETA: Found it after going through about 100 IM’s as I couldn’t remember who said it.

from just a little bringing to the shoulder training with my pouches loaded down, the buckle actually helps with keeping the weapon in place, but I think I shoulder my weapon weird. I like it there. Make donning on and off easier too.

I guess I “shoulder” my carbine funny as well…

I place the butt of my stock more to my center line than into the crease of my shoulder. This places the stock just to the inside of the shoulder strap/buckle on this carrier for me.

If you prefer to insert the stock directly into the crease of your shoulder then the buckle is placed directly in-line with it. However, although you will probably have to shorten your stock up one or two positions shorter than usual. Placing the stock directly on the shoulder strap/buckle does not impede shouldering or the comfort of your cheek weld at all with this carrier in my opinion.

If you are running a full length fixed stock on your carbine, this carrier may be a NO-GO. I cannot run my Benelli M1 S90 with its full length pistol grip stock with this carrier, but that is the story with every plate carrier I have ever tried with my Benelli M1. I need to have the stock on my Benelli M1 S90 shortened badly:( (Help me Ned!!!)

If you prefer to insert the stock directly into the crease of your shoulder then the buckle is placed directly in-line with it.

Yup… that’s what I was afraid of. that’s what kept me from getting one of these when they were on sale… to bad…

You can also reverse the straps on these so that the buckle is in the rear! I just got mind and have been playing around with it, this is my first carrier but it seems well built and with the buckles in the front I don’t see any issues with shouldering my carbine. FWIW

I would like to know how the cumberbund holds up to a heavy load or if it sags on the sides as most of these types do.

Can you post a picture on how the cumberbund attaches in the rear.
Thanks,
Dave

Now that would probably work for me.

W/ that said…I’m against them for their sub par gear, outsourcing, and also the fact that when they took over the Knoxx lineup they began marketing a stock that looks damn near exactly like the Magpul CTR.

I can’t say how the cummbund will hold up with heavy gear on the sides because I havent used it yet.
The cummerbund slips through a sleeve that is the same height as the cummerbund and as wide as the back panel. The sleeve attaches to the back panel like any other molle item via two malice clips and has four rolls of webbing on the outside of it. The cummerbund is two parts attached in the middle back part with small bungee cord and is adjustable.

Hope this makes since, I would have taken a pic but my camera quit on me!

Also, I don’t know if it matters or not since this is my first carrier but the back and front panels are the same!

I had the khaki blackwater plate carrier with cummerbund and I had to sell it. The cummerbund did not hold up well at all the material used ripped it was made of half plastic cloth like material and nylon the plate carrier it self was good the buckles could be switched to the back so it would not interfere with the buttstock when shouldered but there cons over shadowed there pros I am assuming due to these and other issues the plate carrier have been discontinued from many dealers they are exhausting there stock of these plate carriers. I now own an eagle plate carrier and it is sturdy as hell with a medium load and so far no problems stitching is great the weight distribution is good the cummerbund can withstand heavy loads no problems i had to wait 5 months to get one they have been on back order for the past five months on many eagle industries supply dealers. To make it short i would not reccomend blackwater plate carriers.

I have a blackwater plate carrier that I bought because it was on sale, but i dont have the cummerbund. Is this something I can add later? Does it house plates for the side?

Thanks,
Doom

Do they even still make this line of gear? I thought it went T.U.
