Ive heard a rumor the Glock 19 will fit in the Glock 17 holster. Being secured is the main issue. Ive got a G19 and have thought about getting a G17 in the near future. It would be nice it they interchanged.
thanks.

They do. It secures on the trigger guard. The guns are the same minus length ok the barrel and grip. Now the 17 wouldn’t work in the 19 holster though. If you get the model made for the m&p full size you can carry m&p and glock 19 and glock 17 in it;)
10-4. Thanks.
Incorrect, The 17 will fit in a 19 serpa. The bottom is open and the firearm is retained by the trigger guard. I had a serpa for a 26 and rocked a 17 in it all the time. That was back in my poor choice days.
I guess I shouldn’t have said won’t, but can’t the front sight grab the holster on draw? Unless the hood recess helps prevent that. I prefer to have the longest model holster for a pistol than the shorter version. On leather IWB, this happens fairly easily and can make drawing a full size a pain out of a holster designed for commander or officer size
While the SERPA may or may not be interchangeable between your pistols the better option is to ****ing burn it. Seriously.
This. Do not use that holster. It is not safe and the release mechanism gets jammed and won’t release the weapon.
Get a safariland 6378 for a 17. Your 19 will fit perfectly as well as the 17.
It’s possible but the channel is built up enough that it is hard to do.
Depending on what and where I’m teaching I do this all the time.
OP I would highly recommend using something other than the Serpa. Doing a little research you will see the MANY pit falls of the design. The only thing that a Serpa has over a Safariland is the price, but it’s not by much.
Not only can the gun get locked up, but releasing the gun by pressing with your trigger finger is a retarded idea. Look up texas Gribner to see what I mean.
I regretfully used to own one back in the day. I can’t think of one good thing about the holster.
Vaguely related to the topic at hand, make sure the sights on the different Glocks are the same.
I placed a G19 slide with suppressor sights down an old Kydex holster. The gun went in fine, like a factory-sighted gun. Drawing it out was a 25-minute process.
Likely never an issue on factory-sighted guns, but think ahead if you have any plans for aftermarket sights.
Not mentioned above was that you can go smaller too - generally a G19 holster will accommodate a 26 too. Some folks prefer the greater surface area and subsequent stability of a G19 holster even when carrying a smaller 26.
I have to agree with this.
Honestly, in good conscience, you can’t even sell the POS. Get a Safariland.
Don’t blame hardware for a training deficiency. I have owned many blackhawk holsters, and while they are not my first choice for them, their price and availability makes them a good choice providing you train appropriatly with it, just like anything. It’s just like having a handgun with a safety as opposed to not. Train with your equipment.
Bull$hit…Having to train yourself around a design flaw is idiotic.
Or you could spend a little more and buy a quality holster.
How is it a design flaw? I have never had a problem with my finger entering the trigger guard while drawing from a Serpa. I use the pad of my finger (as opposed to the tip), draw smooth, and the second retention is broken the finger goes as far as possible from the trigger guard in an outword motion.
You say training yourself around a design flaw is idiotic, yet there was a time they trained people to keep their fingers on the trigger on DA revolvers while on target, instead of off target until ready to fire. When the Glock handgun first came out there was serious backlash because of NEGLAGENT discharges due to improper training. Did this mean the Glock had a design flaw? No, it was a training issue. Just like any piece of gear you need to learn how to use it properly.
The blackhawk quality is fine. My work holster is a Safariland, and my off duty carry holster is a RCS. However, I would be comfortable carrying any of the three. Last time I tought a class outside of work I was using my fiance’s XD just to have a gun I’m not used to. The only holster she had that would work for me was a Serpa, I had no issues.
Those who knock the Serpa, is it because you have owned one, or are you just going by internet hearsey?
Again, I’m not saying it’s the best holster out there, but it isn’t the worst. I’d take it over a fobus anyday.
Name holsters other than the Serpa that have been banned by nationally reputable trainers…
And, outside of the issue of the trigger finger, it is known to become fouled with dirt or sand to the point of jamming the weapon in the holster.
Yeah it’s not so much heresay as a number of ranges and trainers around the country will not allow them to be used because of the safety concerns.
