The vest itself seems to be pretty good quality built to it’s price point. What concerns me is the pistol holster safety. The trigger is only protected by a piece of thick fabric. While holstered, a discharge would clear my body except for powder burns and flash near the muzzle. For anyone with experience with this vest, is it safe? I wanted something I could draw from while seated and/or belted in a car seat. I also want something that would allow me to carry a pistol up higher out of the way; It also has the benefit of preserving belt space for flashlights and holstered tools. Not that I’m worried about a pistol grab but, I think it would be easier to defend in this position and it would make it harder for the curious to approach my pistol with their hands without an obvious overt motion right in front of my field of view.
What’s the verdict on safety though? Should I try to fashion a Kydex sleeve to protect the trigger more? Or, am I being over safety conscious?
That vest is a POS  Some of our FSS guys have them and they are junk!
What is the intended use of it anyhow…I suppose it would be fine for airsoft/paintball activities but if you want a rig that will stand up to hard use…that vest ain’t it. I have the displeasure of training a bunch of knuckleheads that wear that vest…and I am always amused when I watch them transition from their primary to pistol.
If you want to keep your pistol easily accessable while in a vehicle…mount it on a molle platform, you can do what I use to and use a Galco Matrix:
DITTO to doorkicker (and good to see you here bro)
A number of our Iraqi’s where using that vest - until small things like it SUCKS came up. You know it sucks when an Iraqi ponies up for a CIRAS out of his OWN pocket…
Well, I guess the overall quality of the vest has been pointed out
Blackhawk is rumored to be Vietnamese for “the people that buy my equipment don’t give a shit about me” – but I would add that if you are worried about being jocked up and having to draw from a vehicle operators seat, then an ND would be down on my list of concerns.
Do keep in mind that if you use this type of pistol placement, odds are when you are dealing with a gun grab, that the muzzle will be pointed right into your fuel cell.
Most departments/agencies will not let you run this type of rig, unless your pistol is really a secondary weapon – and to be honest, I have never had anyone with an age or IQ over 5 reach for my pistol without the intent of taking it.
A big beef I have with that vest is that it offers nothing for armor… I would suggest you take a look at the Eagle PC/WC, which is IMHO one of the best deals on the market.
