Just received my order of Black Hills Ammunition 223 Remington 77 Grain Sierra MatchKing Hollow Point Box of 50 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/819452/black-hills-ammunition-223-remington-77-grain-sierra-matchking-hollow-point-box-of-50
from Midway. However, the box only says “77 gr HP” not MatchKing. THe other box of Black Hills Ammunition 223 Remington 69 Grain Sierra MatchKing Hollow Point does indeed say “Matchking HP” on the side, so I was wondering if I get something with non Sierra bullets or if as I suspect, the 77 gr just isn’t marked Matchking but is that type of bullet?
Or it could be Noslers
Some say the Noslers are better than the Sierras…better fragmentation.
I always have liked Nosler bullets…their BC’s are terribly inflated, but the bullets are accurate .
BHA website lists the .223 77s as a SMK. Last I knew, the 5.56 77s are Mk262 in commercial packaging and also a SMK. For confirmation, check the inside of your box flap for the lot# and then contact:

I’m sure you are fine. I checked my stash. I’m out of the red box commercial BHA 77 gr 556 but here’s some reference points.
Remanufactured - Note the only place it indicates SMK is the carton label.
The good stuff - Not even indicated.
omega21 - You are absolutely correct. The .223 77gr is simply labelled as Hollow Point while the 69gr,which came along later, actuallly says MatchKing HP. Carl @ BHA
Cool, thanks guys! hjmpanzr, I really can’t see anything in those dark pictures of yours. What you need to do is send me that ammo can so I can inspect it. I’ll get it right back to you. ![]()
