Biden Promises Common Sense Gun Control on Anniversary of Sandy Hook

They will run into one other problem now that the AR-15 is probably the most popular sporting rifle for hunting, precision target shooting and just about anything else. Say what you want about Fudds, but once the AR-15 was available in “realtree” camo, the gun banners lost a lot of ground.

And of course the real argument is NOTHING they are proposing would have prevented Sandy Hook. The rifle was lawfully purchased with a complete background check, it was stored in a locked safe. The real weapon was Adam Lanza, not the rifle in the safe. Nancy Lanza did everything they wanted her to do in order to purchase the rifle, unfortunately she failed to understand the threat her son Adam posed and she permitted him to be able to access the firearms in the safe. The first person killed by Adam Lanza was Nancy Lanza.

Instead of making gun “safer” by removing bayonet lugs, flash hiders and standard capacity magazines, dangerous individuals need to be removed from society. Nancy Lanza had arrived at that conclusion, but not soon enough.

The question that needs to be asked is “How would the legislation you are proposing have prevented something like Sandy Hook?” Pretty sure Adam Lanza qualified as a prohibited person, which is why Nancy Lanza was the actual purchaser / owner of the firearms he used. He simply unlawfully accessed firearms despite existing laws, this is what criminals and dangerous people do. So how do we prevent that without disarming the law abiding “non prohibited” citizens of this country who need something like an AR-15 to defend against the Adam Lanza’s of the world because government (federal, state and local) sure isn’t doing much to make sure the crazy dangerous individuals aren’t living among us.

Hornady currently makes 5.45x39 and Federal American Eagle 7.62x39 are both domestic manufacturers. If they banned all imports I’m sure a few other companies would step in to fill the market. 20 years ago it would have been foolish to try and compete with surplus imports of these calibers but if a market vacancy exists someone will step in.

I’ve only seen the Hornady stuff in 5.45x39 and it is pricey. I would hope an outfit like Black Hills ammunition would venture into those calibers.

Domestic manufacturer is never gonna to compete pricewise with former commie block nations that don’t have the same production regulations. Just like when they started building the rifles here vs. there, ammo will be as much or slightly more than AR15 rifles and ammo because the demand isn’t as high and the start up costs haven’t been long paid off. But at least it will exist.

AK platforms will become far less practical as a result.

Nice - I’m AOC? Moderators are part of this website because the owner wants them to do exactly that. I have two Post-it’s. One of people who are frequently infracted and we get multiple PM’s and reported posts on. And the people mashing the buttons and send the PM’s are in this thread. Ponder that - the people that ask us to vote others off the island are right here. And I am specifically told to keep an eye on specific people by other Mods and Staff. Hence the yellow piece of paper. There’s 85,000 people on this site. If I know you by name, it’s either really good or really bad. Guess which is more common?

And the policies are here. I know, I personally wrote some of them at the request of the people that own this message board. And when people sign up to post here, they accept them.

So it is listed. In the very section that discusses this website called 'Site Questions and Comments".

It’s pretty freaking hilarious comparing me to AOC, by the way. Especially since half the time I think Ted Cruz and Rush Limbaugh are too liberal for my tastes. Truly.

Oh - and that second Post-It? It is for people who are very knowledgeable in their fields, yet rarely post. Guys like Sinister and some other folks who do not want their names shared. Because when they take the time to post, I tend to STFU and take a lot of notes.

So you signed up for the ride. Nobody puts a gun to anybody’s head here and forces them to join or post or do anything.

Please go back and reeeeeeead the actual post I made. We already have a thread on Sleepy Joe and gun control. Do we need multiple threads from the same people about the same thing?

And when people come here SOLELY to make posts about politics in a forum that they do not pay for the bandwidth, what do you call that? Before people start bellowing about “Muh raights”, everyone is a guest here. You, me, everybody but the people that pay the bill for the web server hosting.

And as I pointed out, that is NOT the mission statement of M4C which everyone agrees to when they become a member. I hear wailing and lamentations every single day when I come on here about how SME’s never post here, about how bitter and decisive people are, and begging me to ban specific people. By the way, you are one of the people they have asked me to ban.

Yet here we are…

So people need to look at their posting history. If the only thing you do is post in political threads and argue, maybe you need to do crazy stuff like read AAR’s and training questions. That used to be a real hotbed of activity.

If someone can show me the indentation on their skin where the gun muzzle was, I’d love to see it.

Lastly, I would encourage everyone to read Chuck Petrie’s “We will crush your balls” edict.

If you think you have been the victim of testicular compaction, you have not. But, however, comma, it’s likely going to start up if people don’t act more civilized in GD.

I was one of those people who bought AK imports during the early to mid 1980’s when they first showed up. Still have them. The AR wasn’t a novelty to me because I had all the access I wanted in my daily work while in the Army.

I know there are a lot of AR owners who run the com-block 5.56 and .223 Wolf & Tula ammo, but I’ve resisted using that stuff in the tighter tolerance AR. I also have weapons of the AK variety which shoot 5.56/.223 and anything works with them. I suspect that the AK-only crowd will be hyperventilating in the near future because of the ammo situation. I’ll feel their pain…a little. I’m glad my Galil Ace Pistol SBR in the past year was selected in 5.56mm.

And yes, I am really worried about the importation of the comparatively inexpensive 7.62x39. I have a really handy CZ 527 in that caliber, and it is a really handy little rifle for walking around.

OH58D - you would flat out love it as a handy ranch gun. It would do a number on a coyote or any other critter inside 250 yards that needed dispatch. It shoots great, even with inexpensive Rooshian softpoints.

Hey Joe…

Never have shot a CZ. In the past during a wet period, I shot some 7.62x39 tracers out of my Sile Polytech underfolder (mid 80’s vintage) around dusk one day at some longer range targets. During dry periods, you don’t shoot that stuff out here unless you like wildfires. It was amazing to see the arc in the trajectory. Done the same thing with some 5.45x39 out of an Arsensal/Saiga weapon, and it’s a soft shooting, flat trajectory caliber. 5.45x39 can be an excellent small game varmint round. For us, the Coyote (Canis Latrans) is actually an asset. They keep the prairie dog population down. For a mounted cowboy, prairie dog holes are not horse friendly.

I’m not hurting for ammo and in the military stuff, I’ve got enough for a lifetime - if I shoot it sparingly. I’ve got somewhere around 48,000 rounds - the wife has a food storage pantry - I have an ammo pantry. When the election was going south this year, all the handgun calibers were unobtainium, but 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 were still available in large numbers at places like SGammo. Added to my stash in the past 30 days.

I see ammo control as the way the Biden Administration and Progressive allies will achieve part of their goals. I thought about this years ago and started a consistent program of ammo purchases for long term storage. For me it was a good move, especially since I just don’t have a local gun store to run down to and pick up a couple of boxes of this or that. Mail order is how I’ve done it.

Have one of the 527s in 7.62x39. When my sons moved up from the little Marlin .357 as a hunting rifle that was our choice. I bought a case of the 154 grain Barnaul soft points and they killed a pile of hogs and mule deer with that combination. No reloading, cheap to shoot and very effective out to 200 yards. The gun fit them well, wasnt loud or hard kicking, they shot it well.

Only complaint is the safety was backwards from American bolt guns. There was a guy that sold a conversion unit to make the safety work “right”, I bought one and had a gunsmith install it.

I bought a pretty good pile of x39 recently, Target Sports had some Barnaul reasonably couple months ago. I’ve still got green and yellow box Norinco and even some East German ammo for the AKs, from years ago put back but I too was worried about imports being cut off…

Obama couldn’t get anything done and he tried for 4 years starting rigjt after Sandy Hook happened, and the Dems had a majority in both the house and Senate during the first 2 years of his 2nd term. They still could not pass any gun control legislation on a federal level. Now there are way more gun owners, gun control is less popular, we have sleepy joe at the wheel, conservatives are against him, the radical left is against him. The senate race isn’t over yet, at best they’ll have the tiebreaking CommieLaw Harris vote with a 50/50 congress. I don’t see it happening.

The Left has moved even further to the fringe Left since Obama. The media has dropped the veil of journalistic integrity since Obama. Obama was kind of a forerunner to set things in motion, but is almost considered anachronistic and too moderate for the New Left. Biden and Harris have apparently won and they’re still spouting the extreme gun positions. There’s really no reason to do that unless they’re preparing the population for what they have in store. They have to deliver or their masters will destroy them politically. I do expect extreme measures in the limitation of gun rights out of this administration.

It really is a ton of fun to shoot! I have some of the Barnaul zinc-plated softpoints, and cannot wait to smite a hog with them.

It currently sports a Aimpoint H-1. I might leave that on there, or grab a LPVO during the Christmas sales.

Yeah.

This is 12 years later. The world has changed. A lot. America is not the nation it was even a year ago. And the Left is playing for all the marbles and they think they have this in the bag. They are in the consolidation phase while we are just beginning troop leading procedures. They have no reason to wear a mask anymore and they’ve shown it this year.

This right here. We know the fight ahead of us but having a positive mindset will make the fight easier.

You and me both, except for I don’t have a single 5.56 AK platform. I wasn’t saying anything except what to expect. I have about a dozen AKs in 7.62 and 5.45 and I’m gonna get hit as bad as anyone if import ammo gets restricted. 5.45 magazines are already pricey compared to what they were.

AKs are becoming exotics.

What is astounding is that a forum for grown men even needs moderators that these supposed grown men can complain too and tell on each other. How childish! If you don’t like a post move on. Have you nothing better to do than type out a “I’m telling on you” complaint? How pathetic.

Not a gotcha question but what do you think the REAL GOAL of Fast and Furious was? Do you think “getting caught” and the death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent had any effect on what the originally planned follow on to it might have been?

I maintain that it was from day one a carefully planned operation to undermine the Second Amendment. It had NOTHING to do with Mexican gun running (The fact that there was no mechanism in place to actually trace the guns once in Mexico should be a clue here) etc…If you will go back and read the news sources from the time- now mostly scrubbed of course, it’s pretty clear that someone was orchestrating an operation to change American gun laws by drenching Mexico in blood and getting Americans to give up their rights as a result. If you know what to look for, it has ugly, covert ops, prints all over it. Obama was a very serious threat to the Second Amendment, he was just much more subtle and sophisticated-like a good Marxist he was playing the long game- and therefore more dangerous in how he went about it. We literally dodged a bullet on that one and not by much.

It will be interesting to see if they push very hard on gun control, knowing that they are primed to lose the House in 2022. They are more left and anti-gun then ever before, and 10 years ago we would have heard boo about gun control because it could tip the edge races. I don’t know now. Collins just got re-elected so maybe she is good for two years. Romney I could see buddy-fudging us just our of spite.

The real issue is SCOTUS. All we need is one mag case and one AWB case and you could fix it. Frankly, if I were the dems and the GOP, I’d rather have SCOTUS rule and get it over with. The only people profiting on the churn was the NRA. Get it codified like gay marriage that you can own a AR and 30 round magazines. Not half-way measures, full gay marriage approval in one fell swoop in clear language that they are here to stay. Don’t let Roberts in on the majority to whittle it water it down. Sure, there will be stupid edge fights on fees and registration and background checks, but after you get the clear stari decisis that they are kosher, it takes the pressure away.

I’m aware of three cases on the way up right now. One is on Felons rights- THAT will be interesting as Barrett has already ruled on the issue. There is a “right to public carry” case out of Hawaii and a “magazine ban” type case as well I believe. There should be a good opportunity next session to get a decision.
