Checkering is being finished up. Off to Chuck Warner for installation of his sights. Teaser pics for right now:
Completely free hand. File, frame, vise, sore elbow. That’s it.

Good job. I wish I had the patience and knowledge to do that kind of work. I can’t wait to see the finished product. David
That looks great
I don’t know if I would have had the patience for such a project… The bhp just needs so much to get it where I want it (basically the mods you have done and a few more) that I would’ve just called it a lost cause and went with something else.
Dang, that is sweet work on the checkering.
Man, nice job!
Give that elbow a break and checker the backstrap left-handed, I dare ya.
So, I’m thinking Ned, Jason, CT, Steve, et al, if the average price of a custom gun is $6k, must be working for about $10/hr.
So, yeah. Helluva lot of filing going on.
Making a tool to clean up the checkering around the serial number ![]()
Looking good.
I bet you aren’t far off on the pay for custom guns. A buddy of mine makes custom cowboy boots that range from $1100 to $5000. He makes about $15 per hour by the time he’s done.
