BHP Barrels and High Cuts

Working on the front strap, and fitting the KKM barrel.

It’s utterly amazing how good a BHP feels in the hand, with a very abbreviated beaver tail, and just a little removed under the trigger guard.

I’m looking for 0.010 or so clearance for the bbl. I’m convincing myself that barrel timing is responsible for broken lower lugs. Not that there are a lot of them, but I’m getting very confident in that.

Cheers!

Just to keep me interested, I put it together to look see…

Cheers!

Very nice - is that an example of your Black Fire Engineering coating?

I am seriously thinking about snagging a old 3" Smith wheelgun, just to have you coat it.

Those grips look good as well.

Thanks buddy!

Touching up this PM.

That is some beautiful checkering! Great looking HP.

Excellent checkering!

Great work and thanks for the detailed pictures. I’m very interested to learn more about what you said about barrel timing. What are some indicators of poor barrel fit/timing in a HP? In your experience which aftermarket barrel makers get right and wrong?

Would you mind posting a picture of the backstrap when you have a minute?

Fantastic.

Not yet, but I’ll get there.

Will you continue to post pics as you go, please?

Happily. The welding torch comes out tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Update? How’s the build coming?
