BFG Redi Mod: Who has them in stock???

I checked all of my usual shopping spots (G&R, BravoCo, etc). I can only find a few stores that have them even listed and they are all out of stock. Anyone have a line where I can pick one up???

Just curious, have you tried BFG direct?

I checked direct on the BFG website and it says 4-5 weeks out on delivery. I’m looking to pick one up quickly due to having two rifle schools in that time frame where I can put it through its paces to see if it will make its way to my duty rifles. I’ll have a BAD here on Monday so I was going to run the two together and see if it a viable option for me.

Here you go Swat

Grey Group has them in stock for $165. This is who I went through and had a good experience with them.

Damn, didn’t see it when I checked Grey Group earlier.

Thanks Doc.

$165 seems to be the going rate for the Redi Mod these days.

Thats how much I paid for mine. Its going on my SBR so I haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

So do the BAD and the Redi Mod work together? I have been thinking about getting a redi mod but was unsure of it’s function with the BAD.

I believe they do.

BAD and Redimod go together like peas and carrots.

I’m a steak and potatoes guy myself but I get your meaning. I hope this setup works for me as I have high hopes.

Rob are you running the earlier version of the Redi Mag where both mags drop at once like Travis H. or are you running the newer one that retains the spare mag?

The BFG version only comes in the Gen II variant with the separate release. In fact, Boonie Packer only makes/sells the Gen II now, so if you want a Gen I you have to scare up a used one. If you then want it lightened you have to chop it yourself.

I have two of the BFGs, and one Gen I that I got secondhand (can’t really call it “used” since the seller never used it). I intend to chop down the Gen I to a facsimile of the BFG one of these days.

I think I prefer the Gen II because I’m kind of unclear on what I would do to clear malfunctions and the like with the Gen I. IIRC it is possible to slightly press the magazine release to get the mag in the gun to drop and releasing the mag in the Redimag takes more pressure, but I haven’t played with it enough to know if this is true or not and I’m not sure I could do it under stress even if it is true.

Rob, you’re correct. I have the gen 1 version that I chopped up and it releases main mag with slight depress and 2nd mag with more force. It can be adjusted as well. I never used the gen 1 but do find mag changes super fast with the gen 1 single release. I use mine in conjunction with the Phase 5 one piece extended bolt release.

As mentioned the BAD works very well with the Redi-Mag. Much moreso than just the extended bolt release often used with it. I run the set up with great success. On a side note, if you have access to a dremel or similar, you can pick up a standard Redi-Mag and save yourself about $80 for around 30 mins of work. If you really want to be anal you can spend an extra 15 mins and finish the edges better than I chose to.

Agreed, it appears to me to be the best use for the BAD.

Haha. Looks good brother. Mine looks just like that. I’m more of a function over finish kinda guy. I only used Aluminum Black on the exposed metal but it’s already wearing off. Did you paint yours? With what?

I agree with Surf. If you buy a Gen 1 and spend a few minutes with a Dremel… I paid $50 for mine brand new and after cutting off that front half, you’ve taken offf most of the dead weight.

I have the Gen’ 1 version. No if the mag’ release is pressed, both will come out. No way around that.

How can the release tension be adjusted on the Gen’ 1 version ?

This one was for my work gun and I knew it was gonna get they Krylon treatment, so I wasn’t as worried about the finish.

I really was surprised at the initial weight of the Redi-Mag, and then surprised at how much lighter the skeletonizing made it.
