Better cheekweld for using magnified optics

I currently run my 16 inch Middy in some rifle matches and been doing so for the last 1,5 years. My optic is a Vortex Viper 1-4x24 in an ADM Recon mount. The stock I currently use is the original M4 that came wit the rifle. When entering a position and mounting the gun on the clock I often find myself having to adjust my head to get a shadow free view to the scope. The problem is that my head gets too low on the stock. Magpuls stuff is readily avaaible on our side of the pond aswell so I’ve been lookin into an STR. Anyone using those? Thoughts? The storage space is not something that I really need but it’s quite a good price and easier toget ahold compares to say SOPMOD which I understand many people like a lot for it’s positive cheekweld.

I also run some precision matches with the AR and the STR little “bump” at the end of stock seems nice for putting a bag under it.

I’ e used the orange button but most reviews seem to come from a more self-defense/tactical standpoint (eg storage facility) which is not the intended use for my rifle.

I run an STR on my 20" Oberland, but on my shorty I have a CTR. I would say that you might want to take a look at where you’ve mounted the optics, the height of the mount, and your shooting stance, rather than just the cheek weld on the stock. I went from a traditional bladed stance to more of an isoceles with my stock almost collapsed. I’ve put my scope as far forward as I feel comfortable with (the two front screws on my Spuhr ISMS actually mount on the Troy VTAC forend toprail) and I have no problems with getting my eye in alignment with my scope (Meopta 1-4 ZD) - and getting it fast.

But to answer your question; the STR is good to go.
