So here’s the deal: my SHTF rifle wears a ML3 on a LT cantilever mount in front of a Aimpoint 3x in a LT pivot mount.
I really like this set up. Its pretty close to ideal.
Currently I’m down to one rifle that doesn’t have an optics package and I’d like to remedy that.
What I’m thinking of doing is putting the ML3 i currently have on the naked rifle and replacing it with a M4 or M4S on the SHTF stick.
I’m used to the traditional position of the battery switch on the M4 and perhaps it might be easier to manipulate the switch on the M4 as well. Is the switch of the M4S more difficult to access with a flip-mounted magnifier?
It seems like the M4’s battery box obscures even more of your view than the M2/M3 models? Is this a non-issue, or does it get in the way for anyone out there?
Possibly the only bummers about the M4 & M4S are the extra weight, higher price and lack of a good cantilever option. The only cantilever M4 mount I’ve seen is the (ugh) Accucam. Is there another option?
Between the M4 and M4S, which Aimpoint would you use in conjunction with a 3x magnifier? (Please don’t suggest the T1/H1. I have a Micro on another weapon, but prefer to run it with fixed BUIS, rather than employing a magnifier.)

Also…since I already like my current SHTF config the way it is, another option would be leaving the SHTF rifle alone and getting a CompC3 for the naked rifle, or perhaps even a TR-24 if I’m feeling saucy. Hmmmmm…
