Who makes the best quality vise block for my M4’s upper receiver to install in a vise???
I have seen a DPMS version, and a couple others I think? Not sure of the other brands, but are they all the same, or does the quality vary???
I always prefer to buy the highest quality tools, when possible…
Thanks.
I have the Brownells upper vise and DPMS panther claw (I think that is what its called) I ended up using DPMS more often than Brownells.
Brownells has a tendency to scratch upper is that is a concern for you.
I use the standard Brownells clamshell-thingie, or a PRI block. The PRI block is nice, but it was so expensive I just borrow my neighbors.![]()
I have never seen the PRI block. I’ll have to check that one out.
I have also been looking at the block that Adco sells. It looks like a quality named manufacturer makes it. I can’t remember the exact name, but it looked like it might be nice.
I cannot BELIEVE that Brownells would have a block that acually is prone to SCRATCHING? the receiver?
YES, that is a problem for me!
Keep em coming guys. I want the BEST made… Thanks.
I have a Brownells clamp type one and 2 DPMS claw ones and really only use the claw ones when doing upper work.
What is the difference between a “clamp” type, and a “claw” type??
Thanks guys…
The DPMS and PRI Claw type doesn’t pinch the upper from the outside of the receiver and leave marks of it’s past presence. You’ll see factory new Bushmasters and a few other AR manufacturers with shiny spots on the front end of the receivers from using the clamp type.
