Best red dot mount for Benelli M4

I recently traded for a Benelli M4 and have been looking to pick up a usedAimpoint Micro LRP QD Mount Base (12905) or a LaRue LT661. Does anyone ha e other models I should consider or a prefer3nce between the two? Anyone know a good place to pick them up used? I’ve been haunting the Markwtplace and TOS EE but no luck so far.

I prefer the LaRue’s…with the M4 its important to note that the optimal mount height is a function of how you run the C-stock (i.e. all the way collapsed you need the tall QD mount). I run middle position on the stock with the short QD mount and its perfect with a normal cheek weld.

I use the Urbino stock with cheek riser and an Aimpoint Micro in an LT661. I have the riser set at one up from bottomed out with no issues.

You’re going to want an aftermarket, in-spec top rail on your M4 if you want to mount optics on it. The OEM top rail with the ‘center cut’ will destroy a LaRue mount.

Here’s a quick thread where two aftermarket rails are compared. Note the picture of the Larue mount on page two. The reason the market exists for non-OEM top rails for the M4 are the known deficiencies with the stock unit.

Hope this helps.

I wasn’t aware, thanks for this information!

There is a shotgun technical and an equipment forum on the Enos site.

While I think plenty of .mil types beat their carbines to death compared to 3 gunners and that a lot of 3 gun carbine stuff might not hold up night after night outside the wire,

I don’t know any .mil types that throw their shotguns around and put as many rounds through them as the 3 gunners.

The Open guys pretty much use mag guns, so their opinion on the sight might be better than the rail for a Benelli.
Non-Open guys heavily percentage wise use the Benelli, plenty use other sights and may have some strong rail preferrences.

I only dabble in three gun for fun, but for some of these guys it is like a part time job and lots of hours of experience.
