Best rattle can spray for a black TD VFG?

Couldn’t pass up the price on a black QD TD stubby VFG that I bought from G&R Tactical, so I bought it in light of it not being in the FDE color I wanted. So, what rattle can paint will best adhere to this plastic VFG? Thanks.

I don’t know if it’s “best”, but it works; the .mil generally uses Krylon camo paint.

It may be a little more than you want to spent(around $14 a can plus shipping from brownells) but I like using Alumahyde II. You have to let it cure but it’s tough as nails and is resistant to most cleaning chemicals.

If it’s polymer why don’t you just RIT dye it? It’s a bit more permanent.

edit - My mistake, it’s black, of course you can’t dye it…

It’s also a high-wear area. Brand of paint is irrelevant.

Rough the surface slightly with sandpaper or emery cloth, clean it, degrease it, dry it, paint it.

If it’s not a safe queen, paint will wear off of where you hold it, unless it’s made from dyes distilled from the coat of a unicorn or from Obama promises brought to life.

VFG, pistol grip, rail/forearm, top of the stock, forward assist, safety, bolt catch, etc. Either be prepared to do touchups, or be prepared to let the gun look how it’s supposed to look, which is as if you love it and shoot the piss out of it.

No, not a safe queen. I just like how FDE breaks up the outline of the rifle better. That’s it. I was thinking about sanding it down then spraying it. I’ll just re-spray the thing when the paint gets worn off. Thanks for the reply, gents.
