Best Place to Get a 25x223 Barrel?

So, I’ve been reading about the 25x223 and the 25x45 etc and now I’d like to know where the best place to get a barrel is?

Let me say right now that I know there are other cartridges that are faster, bigger, longer legged etc. I have a stock pile of .257 dia bullets on hand because of my fascination with the 250 Savage. So, that’s why I want a quarter bore AR.

Thanks,
Sean

I think BHW might have some.

If you want to get closer to 250-3000 Savage performance, I would consider looking at one of the wildcats with more case volume.

There are:
25x6.8 http://www.shop.blackholeweaponry.com/25x68-caliber-20-length-AR15-25x68-20.htm
25DTI http://www.dtechuppers.com/ar-15-dti-upper-receivers.html

These little .30 Remington based cases will get you into 250-3000 performance from the AR15, based on the numbers I’m seeing reported. What .257 pills have you accumulated?

Oh, I have a ton of 75 and 100 grain bullets on hand. Speer Sierra Nosler.

I have a 6.8 SPC and know how expensive that brass can be. Plus, the odd bolt head and magazines make a 'cat on the 6.8 less appealing to me.

The 250 Sav I have is a 16" Encore. I’m not sure the velocity of my 100 gr Ballistic Tip handloads but it seems to be perfect for that bullet judging by deer killed with it. I was thinking the 25x223 would put me in that same range.

Since you already have 6.8 brass and mags, get a bolt and a barrel, dies, and be set.

You have to get a barrel and dies anyway with the 25-223. Sure, it will kill things and I now see what you’re getting at with the 16" Encore.

At the moderate speeds, your 100gr BT’s are less likely to fragment on superficial tissue depths. It looks like a .257x223 wildcat would suit you fine, and closely match your 16" Encore if you go with an 18" or 20" AR15.

The 6.8 is the rifle my son uses for deer season so taking that apart is not an option. That’s the other reason I wasn’t keen on a 6.8 based cartridge.

I do very much appreciate your feedback on my query.
