Looking for a recommendation of source for buying reasonably priced 5.56/.223ammo. This will be mainly for range work, not duty carry, etc. Also, same question for .40 as well. Thanks.
sportsmansguide.com has good prices, but check the availability before you finalize the order; a lot of back-ordering there.
I can vouch for Sportsmans Guide. I’ve shot the 180 Gr 40 cal Ultramax as my primary IPSC ammo for the past 2 years and never had a hiccup, FTF, FTE, nothing. Good pricing too, especially if you buy 1K at a time. The 223 is normally on backorder like he said but you can sometimes catch it in stock. Even of you pre-order it and it’s backordered, they will normally let you know ETA at time of order. I haven’t ordered or shot any but also try HSM (Hunting Shack). I just copied their price list off their web site for range ammo in 1K lots and it’s very reasonably priced, but like I said, I haven’t shot any of it.
take a look at Georgia Arms, they might be the best buy at the present time with the prices going up the way they are…
Wideners.com has Prvi M193 for $283 per 1000 right now. Aimsurplus.com is usually good too but they just sold out of it.

I surprisingly found a local retailer selling Federal XM193 for the same price as the American Eagle .223 55gr so I snatched 500 rds of the former because it’s tough to get. Their pricing can’t exactly match bulk internet wholesalers, but to me cash and carry at $7.19/box of 5.56 XM193 is better than “SOLD OUT” on all the websites.

I just got 1K rounds of Wolf poly for $212 delivered from them.
Nobody seems to have 5.56 right now except ammo to go (now big dog ammo), and they just have stripper clip 62 grain M855 for something like $400 for 850 rounds. I like M855 (have some boxed IMI stored, thankfully), but that is a bit steep considering where things recently were. And they are the only 5.56 game going right now. This is a tough time to tap into the market. :mad:

Hope this is not and old question, but does anyone have any experience with this Prvi ammo? Hear of it more and more as the others dry up, but never tried it nor has anyone I know.
Sportmansguide is back in stock with Wolf if interested. Just ordered 2k and got the UPS tracking link. They are notorious for back orders! I had to wait 3-4 months on some ammo request.:eek:

Just shot through a case of Privi 55Gr and I had no problems with it. Typical surplus 55GR FMJ… shot great through my 14.7 CMMG M4 bbl. No FTF, FTE, nothing. My M4 likes it. HTH.

Problem with Sportsman’s Guide is they sometimes rape you on the shipping, and backorders are a beotch.
I generally only buy Federal or Winchester American made ammo. In doing so have had real good service through Ammunition To Go and Wholesale Hunter.

Agreed, I bought a case a few months back and am looking forward to buying another. Shoots good and doesnt seem to be to dirty, I like it.
