I have a Spikes Tactical lower and I am looking to paint the logo and some of the engraved lettering red. I already have a very fine brush and I just need to know what kind of paint to get. Bonus points for links to buy it. Thanks…
Skip this and spend the money on some good mags or sling…
.
Seriously…
How about nail polish…
I have some time to kill while I’m saving for a good BCG and I want to make my rifle unique. A lot of people paint their guns up, I don’t think what I’m doing is that odd, despite what some purists here apparently think. Not sure if serious about the nail polish.
Testor’s model paint, specifically the enamel. I generally use “Flat Red” and “Flat White.” Paint is applied with toothpicks whittled down even finer than usual.
There will be “overspill.” Clean this up using spray CLP, an old t-shirt, very light pressure, and a lot of time. Let the paint dry a while (hour or two) before lightly buffing out the excess paint. If you overdo it, any basic solvent will remove it all so you can start over as many times as you like. It’s not hard, but takes practice.

I’m no purist. My guns are beat to shit on the outside because I actually shoot them. I have 2 Colt 6920’s that have gone 1,300+ rounds with no cleaning. I just add oil. They are so disgusting on the inside they might as well have AIDS.
And YES, I was serious about nail polish. Nothing is going to last unless you seal it, but the model paint already mentioned might be better.
Get One Shot lettering paint. I have been Pinstriping for the past 8 years. If you want a good paint with a plethora of colors that is gonna last…go with that. If you have a local art supply store they MIGHT have it. Also, an automotive paint shop will sometimes stock them. Skip the enamel model paint. One Shot is a urethane based enamel.

I have painted on glass, metal, you name it. Its been on my back windows on my truck for the past 6 years. One little spot chipped. Thats it
