Hey all, I’m planning to get one of g-codes thumb break RTI holsters for a glock 19 to use in conjunction with a battle belt (HSGI) and was wondering what attachment method you consider best. Specifically the duty belt mount vs the battle belt molly attachment. I’ve heard the battle belt RTI attachment can sort of flop around on the open bottom type belts, and that is definitely something I don’t want to happen while running and such. On the other hand the duty belt mount seems (from my uneducated guessing) like it would be more stable because it mounts directly to the cobra belt inside my padded belt. Also I will be using a plate carrier with a med kit and some mag pouches on the cumberbund if that makes a difference for drawing clearance. Anyway thanks for taking the time to read and I’d love to hear some first hand opinions. Ps sorry for the way this is all written out in one paragraph, my iPhone won’t let me start a new line.
If you’re worried about clearance maybe consider the mule. I started using the mule while running a plate carrier for clearance purposes then found myself using it regularly. I find drawing from a holster a few inches lower to be much easier and effortless.
I’m sorry I have little experience with mounting a holster directly to a battle belt.

I run the battle belt adapter on an ATS warbelt. When I wear a plate carrier I use the Mule platform for the extra clearance. There is some flop when mounting the holster directly on the belt, but it never really bothers me.
Thanks for the input. How do you find the mule as far a stability? I sort of discounted it as a leg drop that would flop around.
In my opinion the mule is plenty sturdy. It’s the only holster of its type that I’ve tried so I can’t really compare it to others.
It takes a little getting used to with your firearm now primarily on your leg instead of your hip, but I wouldn’t consider it cumbersome.
If you’re ever on YouTube, a pretty popular channel is cory07ink. He reviews and likes alot of gcode gear. There’s a few videos on the mule I believe.

Funny you mention that, Cory and Erika is actually how gcode was planted in my mind. I’ve been watching them from the beginning.
Anyway thanks for the input on the mule.
The mule is not a full drop leg platform in the common sense, it rides much higher than a thigh rig thus is much more stable. Travis Haley has a great video on YouTube about drop leg stability.
i use a couple of mini PUPs to attach the RTI wheel to regular and molle belts. scroll down to the bottom of this writeup for pics:

I have mine mounted using this Duty Mount which hooks direct to the belt.

This belt is very stiff, yet lighter than most Cobra buckle belts I’ve seen, and results in zero noticeable flopping. No leg straps, nothing to restrict mobility.
Best setup I’ve had so far.
G-Code RTI Duty Mount on my HSGI Sure Grip Belt. If you wear your belt tight it doesn’t flop around and is very stable. The plastic piece might jab your leg when sitting in a wide stance but just keep adjusting it until you find the sweet spot. My setup:

I’m glad this thread got started because I’ve been looking for the answer to this exact question! My holster rides just a little too high when it’s directly on my battle belt and I wonder if a mule would be a little too low. I don’t wear a vest I need to clear.
How much trouble did you have mounting it? How did you do it?
I have the G-Code RTI XTS HK45c holster for my HSGI SureGrip battle belt, but I have straight drop leg rig, maybe I’d be better served with the Duty mount.
Nice setup STAMarine.
You’ll see how you mount it once you get the HSGI Sure Grip. Here’s a pic so you have a better idea of what you’re working with:

I think you were talking about my belt. Thanks man
It’s my range belt but I also use it on deployments (over-kill for my job but I figure it’s better than the gear they issue me).
Thanks for all the valuable input and pictures; it really helped a lot. I ended up going with a two duty mounts a while back. I think that will serve my preferences and needs the best.
When it all comes in I’ll post an update and impressions.
Yes you’re correct, I was referencing your belt. I run the same belt and holster but I opted for the straight drop leg setup. I also ordered a standard battle belt RTI mount but it sits too high for my liking. I am going to run the drop leg setup in my class next week and see how it goes before I order the duty mount.
I ran a drop leg for awhile but it got uncomfortable wearing it for 8-10 hours a day (high on the thigh and cinched tight); I think if you’re wearing it for a class you’ll be good to go. HSGI Drop Leg Mount with the XTS:
