What exactly is “Bubba” about removing the delta ring? It takes a whopping five minutes to remove. OP go with the Centurion rail, you won’t be sorry.

Skill level of the one about to modify something denotes if something is about to be ‘bubba’d’.
I’m simply suggesting a free float rail that doesn’t even require messing with the delta ring/spring (dremeling it off as is often depicted in too many youtube ‘how to’ videos or taking pliers and prying things apart) that I have personal experience (with a version of) and am happy with.
What is the object of the piggy back, seems it just raises the optic another inch? I don’t like the idea of my optic higher than it already is.
I went DD RIS II. Way too heavy. I really like the Centurion.
The point of the piggy back rail is rigidity for the system as it’s only other point of contact is two hooks behind the barrel nut held by the delta ring. It offers an added bonus of being a sight riser that’s approx 0.4" if memory serves.
I really seem to be leaning towards the DD AR15 LITE RAIL II™ 12.0 FSP. I like that I wont have to make any changes to my FSP. Any one have any experience with these new rails?
Not sure if anyone has them yet. I just read a september article that the one your looking at won’t be available till the first quarter of 2014, although I haven’t checked for stock anywhere.
From what I can see you can order them straight from DD. I could be wrong though.

If all you need to mount is a flashlight, why go quad rails at all? There are options to mount to the FSB, and it sounds like you might have the MOE handguard already, there are options to mount a light to that as well.
If you want it simply to look cool, well that’s another story.
The DD rails don’t require “bubba’ing” your rifle.
Simply remove the flash hider, remove the FSB, remove the nut/ring assembly, replace with the new parts, and reinstall FSB, FH, etc.
Its not that hard.
OP: I have experience with the Daniel Defense Omega X 12.0 FSP. I installed it on my BCM. I really like the profile of it and the integral QD attachment points for the sling. If you decide to go with a slick rail and flip ups, you could buy a new FSB to cut the sight portion off to run as a low-profile block and retain your original Colt unit.
The MOE hand guard is too wobbly and does not feel sturdy on the rifle at all (which is why I’m trying to throw a new hand guard on the rifle). Eventually I may throw a DBAL on her but that’s way down the road, but I’d prefer to mount the light in front of the FSP which is why I would like a 12" extended rail. I’m open to other options besides quad rails. I won’t lie though I am partial to the quad rails for aesthetic reasons.

As I said before I’d also like to have my forward grip a bit farther out because of my long arms.

Have you checked out the Troy Delta or Charlie rails. I have no personal experience with them but they are advertised as being mounted with no disassembly of your carbine required except removing the OEM handguards.
my colt 6920 with dd ris 2 fsp:

and ive owned c4 centurions, i prefer the ris on both my mk18 and m4a1.
Looks like they added QD sockets and went to a 4 bolt system like on the DDM4 rails. The thing that’s nice about the DDM4 & RIS rails is the shallow lower rail IMO.
I run the Lite FSP rails on my SBR’s and 16" rifles. No issues at all. For me, they are the shit. The Lite II rails can be ordered from DD directly.
If you are unsure of your ability to put one on, order from DD and have the rail sent to Robb Jensen at Virginia Arms and send him your upper. Robb’s reputation is well-deserved and is highly thought of here. He has done lots of work for me and I have always been happy.
this, for thumb over grippers its very noticeable
Yes, which is why I swapped from a LITE to a RIS II.
Here’s the chart (note the M4 rail listed is the old M4 rail with the collar ring, not the new M4 rail that comes on their factory guns:

Looking at the chart it seems I would like the RIS as well besides the 4 ounce difference between that and the lite rail II. I like the lower profile of the RIS but the weight of the Lite rail. hmmm decisions decisions. So im fairly confident that I will go with DD. I dont mind paying a little extra for the quality and i don’t mind paying my buddy to install it.
