Opinions please on those who have them or sales persons. I decided to get a flat screen TV. Which is the best as far as overall picture quality? LED, LCD or Plasma?
I have a samsung 50" plasma TV and I love it. Great picture even at a rediculous 10 foot viewing distance. I think the LED may be a little better. For the price it better be.
Just a note: LED screens are LCD screens. The difference is in the backlight. Traditional LCD screens have a type of normal bulb for the backlight. LED screens use an LED setup instead. But the main screen is an LCD panel.
Plasma but you want to control the environment a bit more ?
if its for movies and watching at night under nice conditions
Plasma
if its for gaming and daily use sometime bright room sometimes then the LED lit LCD are nice option and can work well
both have pros and cons and its a bit on the room they are in and how they are used that would make me decide
we have both in our house

CNET’s TV Buying Guide
Welcome to the Web’s definitive document on the basics of choosing a new television. We’ve sorted major issues into bite-size chunks and bullet points, based on years of experience reviewing TVs and hearing from buyers and readers about exactly what’s important. We hope it helps you, too.
Good info. How do they compare to overall picture quality?
That link is what I’ve been looking for, thanks.
Get an LED-LCD made by Samsung @120Hz.
If you get a led lcd, make sure it’s backlit and not side lit if you can afford it.
I’m still a plasma man, still the best colors I’ve seen come from plasmas. I’ve yet to see and lcd get darker blacks.
Don’t know. Our TV is a 24" Samsung computer monitor hooked to Mac Mini (and an EyeTV USB tuner for when we really want TV).
I helped my dad a couple years ago get his TV (at the time LED was brand new and wicked expensive). He ended up with a Sony 46" 120hz that is really nice.
I am the last person you want to ask for more than background technology questions
This is good info and you also need to decide what you are watching. For example Plasma screens have much better detail in the blacks and for some viewers who watch movies only they will prefer this. Plasma also does not work well at certain altitudes. I had friends near me who wanted plasma and could not get them because they were too high in the mountains. There are some good websites with all this info.
get the model number you are looking at and head over to

and research a bit remember everyone has opinions and sometimes whats on the floor wont look the same in your house ?
I am kinda a HT nut and had the chance to bring a few in to test
but double check the model number on avs just to make sure their are no strange issues
their are always some and always some that find fault with everything so take it with a grain of salt ![]()
