Best BCG Coating?

I don’t like the phosphate BCG in my 6933 that’s 100% suppressed. It gets gummed up and slows down very easily. 200 rounds into a range session I can feel it. Is there a coating out there that doesn’t have any compromises? I considered NiB, but the internet says it’s a no-go now.

Nib is complete shit. The most worthless gun part finish ever.

The only other finish (besides Phosphate) that’s worth a look is NP3. Really, in my opinion, Phosphate with froglube works beautifully. But NP3 is slicker, and still holds lube pretty good.

Suppressed 6933 owner here. Since it’s 100% suppressed, you should stick with the phosphate Colt BCG and get a BRT EZTune suppressed gas tube. It will smooth it out and the internals won’t get gunked up as quickly.

I have a couple SIONICS Np3 BCGs, everything else is phosphate from Colt, BCM or SOLGW. Stay from NiB, Failsafe BS, etc.

Oh yeah. I have a fail safe carrier. Worthless… won’t hold lube for shit.

I’ll second the Sionics NP3 for suppressed. Runs filthy and so easy to clean.

Sionics NP3 on my suppressed upper. I also have a Cryptic Coatings mystic black on a to-be-suppressed upper.

Sionics NP3.

I’ve not had any issues with NiB.

YMMV

Same. I’ve got a single NiB BCG, in a 308 no less. Been fine in a couple thousand rounds, which isn’t really all that many admittedly. It’s discolored, of course, but it’s certain still plenty smooth. Wouldn’t buy another though, and certainly not one for a standard AR, just based on overall reputation.

The NP3 has worked well for me. We had Robar up in Phx and they did BCG’s for cheap, it was pretty nice. I remember my LMT carriers and thought no way this thing will actual cycle it was so rough and sticky, of course they ran like a top. But the NP3’s clean up much quicker & better. I was lectured by someone recently about DLC coatings or some such 3 letter coating.

PB

Use more Breakfree CLP and all that gunk will turn into a slippery slurry of nastiness.

Does that make them cycle better or clean up easier?

PB

Yeah. It’s easier to use a parts cleaner to wash all the fouling away.

Probably a toss up between NP3 and hard chrome, choose based on your needs

NP3 - more lubricity less durability
Chrome - more durability less lubricity

What about this:

This is Picatinny DSL and was abandoned by the DoD. NP3 is the best thing available for now.

when and why was it abandoned? From the website of the company that provides it, it sounds as tough they are still doing work.

Yeah, I saw that too. I had read it somewhere a while back, don’t remember exactly. @lysander will be the guy to ask about this.

The RCA “black nitride” BCG I have in my 6mm ARC cleans up super easy, and it is a very dirty running rifle. My RTB polished nitride BCG also cleans up very easily, both pretty much just wipe off.
