I used to buy from them as well, they were a good company but I’d still consider someone who is industry friendly over them any day. To some it may be trivial, but here are the reasons I don’t shop at CTD anymore:
A.) Post election price gouging. Literally the same night Obama was elected Wolf 7.62x39 went up 30c more per round (to $10 a box). 75rd Drums were being sold for $300. Its important to note that Spikes did this as well. It may be water under the bridge, but capitalizing on fear to gun owners who have spent money and time fighting for 2nd Amendment rights to keep them in business in the first place really irks the hell out of me.
B.) Shipping. Order a $3 spring and see what your order total is. They refuse to use USPS and usually stick to Fedex which charges them upwards of $10 as a starting point. $15 is not uncommon for something that can be mailed for less than $1.50 by USPS.
C.) They’re really not “Cheaper than dirt”. Look around and you can find good deals elsewhere for way less. Ammo especially. $933 plus $8 shipping is a good deal on a 6920. I will give them that. But see Point A.
Nice video. But what the hell is up with the Mako groups comments.
You would think a firearms company would know better.
Daniel Defense, Bravo Company, Colt, Stag, DPMS etc… For the most part, they are all the same. Stag is owned by CMT who makes for the Govt. They buy barrels from Mossberg. So does Colt, and DanDef. As far as I know, Bravo doesnt actually machine anything of their own. Until recently, lots of manufacturers were buying internal parts kits from Canada (C7 kits). Ive had the staked carrier bolts back out on my Colt while others shoot on. Point is… Its all the Same Thing

I found nothing in the video that answers my question. It’s all marketing. With the exception of Colts history with the US gov, and failures therein, you could replace the words Colt with 90% of any other AR15 manufacturer.
I actually signed up to sell a rifle. Thanks for doing your part to help me achieve the necessary post to be able to sell on this forum.
I looked into it and that’s it. It’s a TV series, that’s why it didn’t look familiar. I’ve never had HBO, deprived I know. It’s a hilarious clip none-the-less. Thanks for solving the mystery.
Wow. I paid $1350 for a 6920 a few years back. I bought another one through my department a year and a half ago, and that was right around $900, so $945 is a smoking deal.
Colt has been the gold standard for a long time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Colt or BCM, over rifles twice the price.
