I get asked all the time, “what AR15 is the best for less than $1k?”
Right now the Colt 6920 is available for as little as $933 (Cheaper Than Dirt). When asked what AR15 rifle I recommend for less than $1k, I point folks towards the Colt 6920.

I agree 100% a Colt tier 1 for under $1K is a deal .Some of my friends will always call and ask “what about brand Blah blah it is only 600?”
and then I have to explain why it is wise to save the extra 300 and some odd dollars for a quality weapon .After I break down the pros and cons of why the colt is better ,they get it

I agree, if you do find a cheaper gun, you won’t know what sacrifices the maker had to make to get the gun cheaper.
Some makers are trying to “cloud” the price point by adding drop-in quad rails and such.
When it is all said and done, right now, the Colt is the best buy…right now.

That’s an amazing deal for a 6920 because they are expensive, but why would you say the best AR for less than $1K? Aren’t you mostly paying for the name?
Use the yellow search button at the top of the page and search for the colt 6920. That will help you to see why they are recommended so much and are probably the best value for under 1k.

Why people would buy a $800 DPMS or Bushmaster when you can get a BCM or even a Colt for $200 more blows my mind.

Also DSG Arms in Ft Worth has a great price. I bought from them when Grant had no 6920s in stock. At the time, a couple bucks more than G&R, now a couple bucks less.
What’s the story on CTD? I’ve not had any issues with them and I have been buying stuff here and there from them for many years. But I’m curious what the word on the street is.

I’ve had a few issues with them in the past and I prefer to buy my gear from companies that actually know about and have used the items they stock. I guess I can add post-election-price-hikes to the list. And their prices generally aren’t better than places like BCM/G&R/DSG/SKD that pretty much carry anything I need. And also don’t screw me on shipping.
That’s the sad thing…the ill informed believe this to be truth. I still see them at gun shows for $1400-$1600. I always check out the tag to see what they are going for just to have someone tell me ‘Yeah, you’re just paying for the name, these Bushmasters are just as good and they’re only $1200. It’s the only thing Delta uses.’ I vomit in my mouth every time I hear that statement, it’s like they all have it rehearsed…
