Best AR Movie

What’s the best AR movie?

Only one I really know of (besides some Vietnam movies) is “Heat”.

Kinda new to the forum and real new to AR’s (so new I don’t have one yet—have a thread asking for suggestions though). Old 1911 forum has a thread about best 1911 movies. I figured, since I don’t know much about them yet, (but am learnibg A LOT here) I’d ask what everyone thinks is the best so I can see it and watch what AR’s are capable of. I know Hollyweird makes up stiff as they go, so I’m also looking for realism, not just entertainment. Thanks, Tracy

I liked Blackhawk down (of course.)

I like the SF “M4s” and it was neat to see their “peculiar modifications…”

Well it wasn’t a great movie but had lots of AR’s in it… The Postman.

The Postman was awesome!

1: Heat
2: Tears Of The Sun
3: Black Hawk Down

3,000 Miles to Graceland- the only Movie with Beta-C Mags in it.

Not to be a dick, but how is ANY Hollywood movie going to achieve that??

If you’re looking for entertainment, thats one thing, but Hollywood movies arent going to teach you anything technical about firearms, their capabilities or train you how to use them.

Forgot about Tears…

Hollywood teaches how to Flag everyone in the area while never ever removing your finger from the trigger of a loaded gun…until you are disarmed and round-house kicked by Chuck Norris.

Seriously, I see more AR-Flaws in movies that can usually be caught by a novice if they are paying attention. I really hope this thread is for entertainment purposes only…otherwise we got problems.

This thread belongs in the trash.

As already mentioned you aren’t going to learn anything good from a movie. Movies are for pure entertainment and typically 100% wrong with facts, gun handling, history etc.

Reminds me of this douche on TOS who was distressed over news footage he saw of a soldier in Iraq firing a burst into a vehicle that was not slowing down for the road block.

The retard was beside himself that the car didn’t burst into flames or explode or something.

Hollywood is getting better at representing gun tactics and real life gun characteristics.

Compare Arnold’s antics in “Commando” to Al in “Heat” to Harnett in “BHD”

The movies are getting more and more realistic and once and awhile there is something to be learned.

There are a lot more people practicing drawing and double taps since “Collateral” came out for example.

Not in the Best catagory, but

I am Legend - I haven’t seen the movie, but it appears Will Smith is sporting an “M4” while tooling around NYC.

AR cameos:
SWAT
Terminator 2 - Sarah uses a suppressed AR to snipe Miles Dyson.

Didn’t mean that I was going to learn to be an expert AR shooter. This was purely for entertainment purposes. Since I don’t own one yet, my intention was to see what an AR is capable of as far as hollywood can pump them up. I only shoot 1911’s right now, and in comparison Bruce Willis in “Last Man Standing” fires approx 30 rds w/o reloading. I guess I wasn’t clear with what I was looking for.

Dubb–as far as this thread belongs in the trash, we all have “opinions” and I’ll respect your expert one. Tracy

Yeah, this thread doesn’t belong in the trash. If it were in the tech forums it would need to be moved maybe.

If you only want to hand out technical info, the tech forums are a good place to hang out.

What is the point, then? Hollywood can pump up a gun to do anything. Hell, they stop cars with fantastic explosions, and one shot stops abound. I just don’t see the point of the original post. I am not trying to crap on anyone, I am mjust saying that Hollywood won’t teach you a damn thing about firearms. To think it will is ludicrous.

Oh yeah. I bet you didnt know you had your aimpoint mounted wrong did you

Clearly this Cop was paying attention where you werent

At least Willis has his VFG all the way forward like Jeff is teaching us now, right?

if you’re gonna take some gun knowledge away from tv/movies you better be watching mythbusters.
