I snagged a brand-new Beretta M9A1 yesterday, took it to the range today.
All was well until I saw the extractor pin walking out. I dulled a center punch with a file and emory cloth and put a little stake on the hole in the slide.
I know Beretta stakes both sides of the hole with a straight line stake (chisel?). Do ya’ll think my little round stake is sufficient?
I was thinking that it’d leave me more area to restake in future, but if there’s a reason both sides should be staked I’ll hit again.
The round stake looks like it’ll hold.
I just bought a brand new M9A1 from Beretta’s most recent production run, and I had to go check mine just now- its got stake lines on each side of the extractor pin hole. Looks like that one slipped thru QC; I’d check the gun closely for any other quirks.
Thats strange. I have 9 Berettas (different variants) - All have the pin staked… That one slipped thru it seems
No big deal. It took maybe 5 minutes of time to correct.
I’ve put a little over 200 rounds through it since I staked it, shows no sign of moving.
My 92A1 was staked and every other 92/96 series pistol I’ve seen was staked. It’s like a Colt AR without a properly staked gas key: stake it and shoot it.
