This is a knife I never see mentioned in forums. After watching several YouTube videos on this knife, I had to have one. Coming in second was the ESEE-4 which I think will be my next knife with a 4.5" blade length, and I think I will get that one in a combo blade. My EDC Spyderco Delica is a combo blade, and I really like it. This knife arrived super sharp. It’s my first Benchmade, and I think it might even be sharper than my Spyderco knives, which are all folders.

The Nim Cub II 147 is a compact fixed blade that was designed in collaboration with elite airborne military personnel. The Nimravus Nim Cub II has a black finished 154-CM plain drop-point blade with a plain cutting edge. The handle scales are textured Noryl GTX with an EDM finish. A molded MOLLE compatible sheath allows easy carry and accessibility.
That makes the total weight of the knife and sheath 4.3 oz. It also comes with FDE handles and combo blades and another inch of blade length. Any new knives or guns get photographed right out of the box. I can’t help myself.
The Nim Cub is a nice blade but I opted for the full size Nimravus instead. Just couldn’t find anything the Nim Cub could do that either my Nimravus or Benchmade 2550 couldn’t do.
I’ve got two of the full sized and one of the cubs that have significant field time on them. I really like them for a field blade as they are lightweight, carry easily, and hold an edge well. They aren’t in keeping with the sharpened crowbar, but have proven to be fairly strong as I’ve yet to break or chip any of them. The only issue I found with them was purely aesthetic, with the finish wearing off very quickly with use. It seemed much softer then other blades I’d used in the past from Benchmade and others.
I chose this blade because of it’s size and weight. I think I did good. My only complaint is that the strap on the sheath that holds the knife in the sheath is about 1/4 inch too short to be able to snap shut. Tho the knife does not snap into the sheath, hence the strap, it does fit the sheath very snugly and doesn’t come out when I shake it upside down. I supposed if I snapped my wrist with some authority it might come out, but it won’t see that kind of use from me. I don’t know whether to exchange the knife for one with a sheath the snap works with or not. I do expect the black finish to wear off. Hopefully, that will give it some character.
Sheath should not be considered when buying a knife. If you know how to mold kydex or know anyone who does, I would suggest getting a kydex sheath made up for yourself. It’ll be more modular and durable.
It’s actually a nice sheath. It comes ready to attach to molly gear, but you can also switch that out for a belt loop which I did today. Can’t even tell I’m wearing it. It’s probably not something I’m going to wear a lot, so I think the sheath is just fine, I just have to figure out if I want to send it back and get a sheath with a strap that works, or live with this. For $123 and the Benchmade name, I think the strap should be long enough to work.
