I’m going to assume you’re looking for a pants belt, to thread through the loops. If so, I strongly recommend The Wilderness Instructor Belt. I’ve tried several other nylon belts, and while I like the convenience of the Cobra buckle that some of them have, I can’t trade that for the perfect balance of stiffness and comfort that the Wilderness has. I would love it if they’d come out with a Cobra buckle version, but barring that I’m going back to their belts I’m 99% sure.
Size the pouches to your belt, or your belt to your pouches. While it will work, a 1.75" loop on a 1.5" holster will shift around more.
Depending on your waist size and how/where you want to carry things you may find your intended load to be too much, but you should be fine with two pistol and one AR provided the pouches aren’t supreme space-wasters. I suggest the Ready Tactical pouches for this reason as they are only as wide as the magazine, while many of the currently-popular pancake-style pouches are easily 2x as wide as the item they are holding and therefore waste a ton of belt space.
Rob, that is exactly what I am looking for and looks like it will be perfect for my needs, thanks. Having no idea, I would probably order the 5 stitching just to middle it or is the 3 sufficient?
As for pouches, I’m not sure I would want the paddle style for the space wasting reasons you mention. I am a 32" waist so real estate is not in abundant supply
I’ve been happy with my Viking Tactics instructors belt, holds up my usual daily crap and any pistol I’ve hung on it so far. They are semi local to me which is a plus. It looks a little… Tactical. But its solid.
This has what has stopped me buying one locally, most of what I have seen have been really stiff. I just want enough to keep everything sitting up properly.
I’ve worn the Wilderness 5 stitch belt for at least 12 or 13 years now…open carry, concealed carry, wore it when in uniform stateside & deployed with a 6004 on it as 1st line. Have worn it on a fire department as well as working on a ambulance & am wearing it right now with a Secret City Weaponeers K25…
That said I’ve also got a Jones Tactical 1.75 cobra shooters belt & without question the Jones belt is a better quality, better built & stiffer belt but still flexes nicely. I had issues with Jones customer service in regards to communications…but other than that the Jones belt is superior in every way to the Wilderness 5 stitch…
The Jones belt is my work belt (EMS) and I’m looking around at getting another cobra belt from a guy who is a firefighter/paramedic/shooter & knows what is required from a belt…
Check out Jones Tactical, Ares, Endeavor Stitchworks, etc.
Almost all offer a 1.5" cobra belt and some offer a 1.5" belt with 1" cobra buckle. Personally, I think a 1.5" belt with 1.5" cobra buckle is the best of both worlds. But the 1" cobra buckles allow accent webbing to “look cooler”.
Another vote for the 5 stitch Wilderness belt. I’ve got 3, use them for work, carry, after hours dress. I like the 1.5 ", had one of them for 5 years, still keeps it’s shape and dosn’t sag. I agree the 1.75 would snug up the holster a bit better, but I like to be able to shift the rig a bit if I need to. Wilderness just had a 4th. of July special, the 5 stitch option was free. Ordered the third one. I looked at Ares, Jones etc, esp for the Cobra feaure. I don’t find the Wilderness buckle inconvenient so I stayed w/ it. The Wilderness was in stock, just under $50 shipped
Looks good but a bit too pricey for me as I still have to buy the mag pouches too. I think the 5 stitch Wilderness will do the trick. The only question now is, what color?
cost:value I don’t think you can beat the Wilderness belt.
I personally like the tan simply because I think it looks good with jeans. Looks a little weird with khakis or other than pants though. If you care about such things.
Also, I have, and have seen, several of the new-school of belts and I see nothing in them that makes their quality seem better than the Wilderness, and for every day carry I have found the others to be too stiff. YMMV
cost:value is always a consideration as there are always other hobbies that take up your cash too. I’m glad you mentioned khakis as that is usually what I wear. When you say tan, are you referring to the OD color or Coyote? Coyote looks like the belt would kind of blend in with the color of the pants which is what I was looking for. Don’t want to be looking overtly tactical, not my style
I too prefer The Wilderness brand belt. I have been wearing one for 6 or so years and love it. My current daily use belt is a 5-stitch Frequent Flyer which is perfect because I fly often and never have to take it off.
Unless they turn off the magnetometer right as you get to it and make you use the backscatter… Then they freak out because you’re wearing a belt… and then you get felt up anyway. Ugh, I hate flying.
But yes - the Frequent Flyer is awesome for those times when you have to fly, it’s what I usually wear.
