I’ve noticed at another site that some bed the barrel, loctiting the barrel ext. to the upper rec., careful not to get any on the threads. Just was interested if any of you folks out there do this, and what are the benefits if any.

I have heard/read:
“Some/Few” HP Shooters bed the barrel extension with Red Loctite/Rocksett with minimal pressure/torque with barrel facing straight up for, I assume, even pressure around the extension. Some will also use Release agent or wax buffed in the upper receiver to barrel extension mating area. Once dried, torqued to min. torque within recommended spec. Reason HP uses peel washers & not crush washers for their FH, accuracy.
btw: Most of these are Kreiger barrels :eek:. “In it to Win It”
IMHO: I consider HP an ART. Takes some skill to shot as they do with nothing but irons & experince.

IMHO: Tactical CQB & even SPR type/style Rifles this does not apply, Again IMHO. Tech is better now than ever before. Tolerences, I assume, are being held “truer” than every & more consistantly.
16" & Short Barrel Length: If I can hit x @ 25/50 yds. & @ 200/300 yards with a RDS & Irons I’m GTG w/ that.
16" & Longer Barrel Length: If I need mag. optics shooting a semi & it will consistantly hold MOA to 600 yds, pushing 800 yds, Im good with that. Honestly, At 500-800 yards as long as Im smacking steel/making hits Im a VERY HAPPY Camper ;). Love the sound of steel getting smacked around

Not to sound like a jerk, but until you can consistently shoot better than your AR is mechanically capable of performing, I wouldn’t worry about any accuracy upgrades.

If someone gave you a precision SPR and you don’t have the skills to effectively take advantage of the weapons maximum potential, what’s the point? Gimmicks do not compensation for lack of skill.
Concentrate on your individual marksmanship skills. If you can’t effectively employ your weapon without all those unnecessary tweaks, you have other issues to deal with.
That is absolutely the most insane thing I have ever read. As far as accuracy upgrades on an AR are concerned, a match trigger, match bbl, and free-float handguards are about as far as I would ever consider going. If you want a 1/4 MOA rifle, get a bolt gun for crying out loud.
+1000 to the comment made earlier that accuracy upgrades are useless unless the shooter’s skills outmatch the capabilities of the rifle.
