As the title states I just got my chest rig from BDS Tactical. Over all I am extremely pleased with the rig. It is very well made and the customer service from BDS was top notch. What was really nice is that you custom order it exactly the way you want it. Nothing you dont want and everything you want. I got the (8) mag stacker verison with a bib that has a mag pouch and a admin pocket and intergrated hydration system on the back. It has a small general purpose bag with (3) pistol mag pouch attached & an intergrated holster with lanyard, in Multicam. I also picked up a single point sling in Multicam. I need to add a mount to the SLR so it will attach to the left side. I did run the sling on my SBR AR just to get the feel and was really impressed with it. It was confortable and kept the weapon close at hand. I normally run a Troy single point on it and I found that I really like the elastic in it.
I will do a follow up once I have used and abused it some.
Looks nice, could you provide a little more info on what options you went with? I didn’t see the bungees, any intel on how well they work with this rig?
Thanks for the heads up on them, I don’t know anything about that company so glad I am informed on them now. I am in the market for a new chest rig now, holding out for a Bravo Company split chest rig but it seems they are always out of stock. Not sure what else in that price range to look at with the similar features.
Look at the Ares Armor Atalanta Light. I have been using one for close to 2 years and it still looks nearly new. I have worn it to several carbine classes and dozens of calls on duty. I paid right at $80 for mine. They offer it in ATACS, Multicam , etc. it has pouches for 4 mags with binge retainers and Molle webbing on both sides. http://www.optactical.com/araratslchri1.html
I have reached out to Endur via PM, but not received a reply… So as to follow the forum rules, I will clearly state that I am the Director of Sales and Product Management for BDS Tactical Gear and NOT trying to sell anything on this forum.
I am NOT here to debate the opinions of those who claim to have had bad experiences with BDS Tactical. I am also not here to discuss the history of BDS Tactical and OSOE Gear.
I AM here to answer any questions that the membership may have about BDS Tactical Gear, our products, our production methods, lead times, etc.
BDS Tactical Gear has gone through ALOT of changes since the company was purchased from John Willis’ ex-wife. More than 80% of the products we sell have been completely redesigned since then using the experiences of the current owner (Mike Bornfriend) and the other management staff (all of which are US Marines).
We build everything in Oceanside, CA using only the best parts and materials available. All items are “Built on Demand” which can create lead times from 3 days to 6 weeks for a standard production order.
We are currently meeting the stated lead times for all products being shipped, but occasionally in the past lead times have been extended considerably.
Our gear is sold in Marine Corp. exchanges and Army/Airforce exchanges world wide as well as being directly to government agencies to include the US State Department, FBI, DHS, Border Patrol, etc. So, obviously we must be doing something right…
I can be reached through this forum or via email or phone at ANY time to assist the membership of this community with any issues or concerns they may have.
so by that you mean that the owner (possibly former owner, i forget the name I was told, but was one of the original owners of BDS) was banging john’s wife while john was incarcerated, helped her emtpy his bank account, and took his designs and “made them your own”? or at least that’s the side of it that I was told first hand
Not sure what first hand information you were privy to, but what you have stated here is factually inaccurate.
As I stated, if anyone has any questions about BDS Tactical Gear or its products, I am here to offer my assistance.
I don’t know who John Willis is, or why he was in jail or who is ex-wife is.
How does it affect the quality of the current company’s products?
Welcome BDS Tac.
That is my point exactly… none of the drama (factual or imaginary) has any bearing on the products that we OR OSOE makes. OSOE makes great gear, no one that I am aware of questions that. BDS Tactical also makes great gear, yet some seem to feel that history from more than 10 years ago makes that unlikely or not possible at all.
BDS Tactical uses the same materials (typically from the same vendors) as the other big players in the tactical nylon industry. We use the same machines, we employ workers right here in Oceanside, CA USA to cut, sew, assemble and ship the gear… Our gear is purchased, accepted and deployed by many of the most high speed / low drag units in the world.
In the end, OSOE, BDS Tactical, Tactical Tailor, HSGI are ALL great companies that put out great gear. You will not see or hear anyone from BDS Tactical say otherwise. EVER.
Again, if anyone has questions about BDS Tactical Gear, I am here to help. Otherwise, I think the subject above discussed has taken from the original theme of this thread and I will refrain from commenting further.
