BDS or CSM or Emdom Dump Pouches ?

How would rate BDS Tactical Ultimate Dump Pouch compaired to Emdom Mesh dump pouch or Reg. Dump Pouches and CSM pouches

I had the regular Emdom pouch for a while and eventually got rid of it. It’s a well made pouch but I didn’t like that it’s always deployed.

Recently I’ve been trying out the HSGI Mag-Net and I like it so far. A few guys were running them in my last class and they liked them quite a bit as well. Search for them on YouTube to see how they work.

I have no experience with the others you asked about.

The emdom usa items are made in Hong Kong. At the price that they are asking you can get something that is made in the USA.

OK, I say no to Hong Kong made gear. So I will look at CSM & HSGI DP.

I all ready had my mind set on HSGI Battle Belt after watching youtube.

For the belt and mag pouches take a loot at US Grunt Gear as well. It’s all top notch and made in the US.

I was thinking about TAG for the M4/Pistol mag pouches. I like hoe you can put 1911 mags and jump up & down and they stay. I will be using a Glock 17 & 22 and .45ACP 1911 mags.

I have several products from Emdom and none of them show that they are made in Kong Kong. I also know that a moderator on this very forum designs products for Emdom. I run these items doing big boy stuff in the real world and they work very well for me. I do not have the dump pouch in question so I can’t speak for this specific item but their products that I own are some of my favorite kit.

The dump pouch and and The cm belt are both made in Hong Kong.

Both the Cm belt and Dump pouch are made in Hong Kong

To be frank, dump-pouches are an overblown necessity.
Get whatever is cheap and doesn’t get in your way.
The giant basketball hoops stuck to your ass are good for square-range applications only.
The Emdom is decent (used the earlier non-mesh version on my last deployment), but was primarily used to collect/hold things other than magazines.

Just to clarify, the Emdom dump pouch I had was the non-mesh version. I didn’t even know until reading this thread that they had put out a mesh version.

Even so, with prices being similar, I would MUCH rather buy products from a company the does it’s manufacturing in the United States. If other companies can make money manufacturing their products in the US, why can’t Emdom, given that their prices are comparable?

Because EMDOM is a very small company and doesn’t have its own U.S. manufacturing facility - it doesn’t have the capital to establish one over here. EMDOM was started by ken who lives and works in NY, and his friend in hong kong who owns/runs a small manufacturing facility there making nylon gear - some of it for the hong kong police force. Being aware of customers who prefer US-made products, they’ve tried to find a U.S. sew-house to OEM their products over the past few years but the quotes were often more than the retail price as the sew-houses have to include their own profit as well. Most sew-houses wouldn’t even deal with small quantity runs. I’ve helped with some of these inquiries myself and it’s been very frustrating.

Another company that i did some design work for also tried for years to find a viable US OEM manufacturer. they did, but the quality wasn’t acceptable and the delivery delays basically caused a lot of customer complaints. they went through a couple of US manufacturers in a few years. they eventually had to find an overseas manufacturer that could deliver on quality, price and schedule. it was either that, or just not make/sell the product.

Manufacturing in hong kong isn’t as cheap as it used to be, and a lot of the labour difference is cancelled out by the cost of shipping US materials there and then importing the finished product back by air. Anyways, all EMDOM stuff is made in hong kong - for the products i’ve had a hand in designing, there should be a small tag somewhere that says ‘MM’ on it in addition to the embroidered one and it states ‘made in hong kong’ (monkeywrench posted a pic of it). the good thing about nylon gear is that the consumer has a lot of options, and if they choose it based on country of manufacture, i’m not going to dissuade them from that as i’d personally prefer stuff to be made here too.

Full disclosure - i’m not an EMDOM employee nor do i have any financial stake in the company other that the royalties i get from the products i’ve designed for them. So when i talk about EMDOM as a company, i refer to it as ‘them’ and when it’s about one of my designs being discussed, i’ll sometimes say ‘us/we’ as the design is always a collaborative effort.
