BCM Uppers

has anyone got a s&w lower with a bcm upper on it,do the colors match,i want to order a bcm 14.5 upper and i need do know if i need to order a carring handle to or will the one on my smith match the color of the upper.

Most folks on here worry less about color matching and “pretty, shiny shit”, and more about function and reliability. That question might be better asked on AR15.com

I did some checking and they are indeed both black, so you should be GTG.

I’m running that set up right now. Good match I guess… I never gave it much thought.

It really shouldn’t be an issue, since you’re going to cammo up your rifle, should it?

Honestly though, both of them are black and go bang. I understand wanting them to be pretty, but I’ve got over that a long time ago.

It was kind of a bummer when one of my uppers didn’t match a greyer looking lower I had just gotten, but once it started getting some scratches I lost interest in how it looks. The easiest way to get over the “fit and finish” of your gun is to take on some hikes and through a couple hundred rounds on a dusty range.

After you start putting it through some heavy use, you become more concerned with how it weighs, handles, and shoots than how it looks.

This isn’t a rib against you, btw, we can all remember when we were enamored with our AR’s looking pristine and having an air of “quality” about them, but trust the guys here, true quality is when the piece handles and goes bang like a dream. Outer looks ain’t the real beauty of the gun.

They do not match perfectly.

What is the electronic gadget on the rifle?

I just bought a full BCM upper and will have it monday. I already have a BCM upper reciever and love the quality. From what I understand you cant go wrong with BCM.

Yes, the color matching doesnt affect function, but do you have to be a total D-bag about it?

They should be pretty similar in color. If not, its nothing a little Krylon cant fix

There was no need to denigrate me Matt. Get the sand out of your vagina and move on.

Cheers! Grow up.

Actually, color match has no place on M4C. I thought all responses have been appropriate.

hmm. very well then, rip him a new asshole. No hard feelings, just thought it was a little harsh on him. He’s new, he doesnt know rifles are meant to be beaten on yet

As giddy as we get about fit and finish as a general concept, I don’t think it’s completely irrelevant, as long as the realization that functionality should take precedence, and that if presented with two identically functioning and priced rifles with either extreme of receiver slop and color matching most of us would… well… choose pretty and working.

IF you can get past it, and we here DO hope you can:
Go with it, run a DD or LMT Fixed rear sight (lighter than a carry handle), and press on.

Always keep in mind that you’re a can of alumahyde away from perfectly matching everything.

It was a camera dealio that markm rigged up to record some shit while we were shooting the BCM midlength upper.

i’m totally gonna duct tape a camera to my rifle, now.

op- color matching shouldnt be on a list of concerns.

you guys are right color doesnt matter that much to me,i am going to order the bcm upper, all i want is it to go bang when the zombies come calling

no more dumb questions like color,i am just wanting a good fighting weapon, not a safe queen.

Good decision, and I sincerely doubt you will be disappointed with a BCM upper. As far as color goes, they often match even among the same manufacturer on factory assembled rifles…at least on the top tier stuff. You want tight fitting and perfect color matching uppers and lowers? Go with a commercial grade mid tier AR. You want an AR that you can run hard and it will beg for more? Then go for BCM or similar.

update, just placed my order,14.5 bcm upper on the way.

I envy you. Believe it or not, one of the things I miss while working here is the inability to seriously mess with guns or go shoot when I want to.

I have a complete bag of lower sitting at home, waiting for me to get my grubby paws on it, and to get an appropriate upper to pin onto it.

Not an exact match but close enough.
