BCM/Seekins Middy 14.5 Build

Just finished my first build. I used a BCM BFH 14.5 Middy upper and Seekins SP223 Billet lower. Used the upper, well, because it’s BCM. I liked the captured takedown and ambi bolt catch on the Seekins, plus they have a unique look. In the pics, you’ll notice the upper has kind of a purple hue to it. I can’t say I’m thrilled about that, but honestly, it’s not a Barbie doll, it’s a gun, and it works just fine. I ended up using a Timney 3.5 pound single stage trigger because I am not a fan of 2 stage triggers. BAD ASS selector because I’m a lefty and I don’t think there’s a better selector out there. So far, I have about 500 rounds through it the first run out, dialing in the PRO and sights took about a magazine’s worth, averaged about 1" groups at 100 yards off a sandbag rest. Currently running a standard carbine buffer, but I have an H and H2 and am going to be swapping them in and running to see how heavy I can run before it won’t lock back or short strokes. XM193 and XM855 only run in it thus far, no Wolf or Tula .223 here. It’s going to be for HD and range use, and I do plan to run it in some carbine classes to train up.

Looks awesome!! The light doesn’t interfere with the sight at all? Tough to see from the photo but it’s offset off center no?

also is there a pressure switch on it? or just push button?

VERY nice!

Nope. The light is fine and doesn’t shadow either. It is a push button only, and there’s a 600 lumen Cree in it

awesome build, great work!

junk… you just need to send it to me for proper disposal. looks good!

Thanks for the kind words. I’m very happy with how it shoots.

Looks good!

Keep an eye out for the Magpul MS4, I think it would work really well for you on that rifle.

Good luck trying to do any kind of reload with that goofy lower in a real life situation…

Actually, “that goofy lower” speeds up reloads. Thanks for your input, though. To the previous poster, I actually have an MS4 now.

Barring military service or residing in Mogadishu, how many reloads have you made in a real life situation???

More to the point, have you ever run a rifle with a Seekins lower? If so, please point out the issues that you had in reloading. I’ve had no trouble with mine, and every mag I’ve slapped in drops free…
