Have a friend looking at 2 firearms. We cannot find much on the Salient Arms (he’s looking at the Tier 1 package for $2,995). Although these are pricey, any thoughts on the performance/quality and if they’re worth the money for what you get.
Can you guys provide any info on this, or have any first hand knowledge/experience with them?
Or, if you had $3K to spend on an AR platform now, would you rather buy a full BCM setup?
I would call Lawmens and order a Mod1 for 2k and take the extra cash to buy (find) ammo and take a class.

You can find KAC’s for less than 3K right now. Hell i would think about selling my mod 0 if someone offered me $3K

I would go to Gunbroker and spend some time there. I have seen plenty of good AR’s sell for below 2400.00.
I know someone locally that has a restricted 6920 for 2100.00 right now plus shipping.
On the Salient Arms…considering the mass amount of tech data/info here, I figured there would be SOME info on it…but alas the search results basically nothing.
Should that be worrisome?
Seems from what we can find, the only info available is that people think its fancy/overpriced, but we can’t get to the heart of the quality/reliability of the product, and if anyone actually owns and shoots this gun.
I like your thinking. I’ve got a 6920 myself and love it…but he’s sort of looking for that boutique/rare thing that many people won’t have. But…he still wants a great product. That’s why he’s willing to pay a premium for it, but he doesn’t want to buy a fancy product that costs a lot, it’s got to have value in the good (ie: great quality product).
Why are you so sold on needing one when there are known good configurations?
I agree. I actually walked up to the table and acted completely uninformed and they tried his best to ‘sell’ me one of them including “wait until you see the cost in 3 months, you will wish you bought it”
I guess, technically, he could be right.
Luckily I went crazy the 6 months before SH and bought every deal I found.
Let me also add that I went to their site and cannot find any specs at all. This is a red flag.

Theoutdoorstrader.com is another excellent site with much better deals than GB. Technically it’s for GA residents but many on there will ship to a ffl if you ask them (and you pay shipping costs)

I agree with all you guys. I’m telling him not to do it…but…at the same point, just like him, would like to know if there’s any real world data on the quality of the gun, or if it’s simply overlooked because of the crazy price.
Has anyone heard of anyone actually handling and firing a Salient Arms? Lots of crazy talk, not a lot of people shooting it.
Isnt Salient know for their Glock stuff?
Salient seems to be known for making what would be a Limited Division USPSA pistol and then selling it to followers of Teh Costa and those types. They will stipple, trigger job, drop a match barrel in, mill some crazy patterns and their logo and then sell it for almost what you would pay for a STI.
Im not really sure what they could do to a AR to justify selling it like that.

That is sort of what I am trying to get at for his sake, its not that he doesnt know its a premium price, he just wants justification (first hand) that it is also a premium product.
A site this big, with this many people who are actually familiar with or actually in the industry, and you still can’t milk the info you are looking for. The website doesn’t list the info you want either.
If the manufacturer can’t provide legit info about their product, and the people here can’t, I am dumbfounded you are still trying to pry info out of the void.
Whether this is for you, or someone else, at this point just go buy it or tell them to go buy it. That seems to be what someone wants to hear.
Instead of you playing manager of information, tell him to sign up on the site and post his own questions. That way we at least know what is really going on.
To answer your first question, I would buy the BCM all day long over an unknown product. Every day, every time.
