This isn’t one of those which one is better threads… We all know both make exceptional rifles.
Who prefers what and why? I have a DD M4 V1 and a BCM Recce 14 mod 0. I’m trying to choose which one to keep with me while I commute.
I just got the BCM and I’ve had the DD for a while now. The DD has been flawless for the 800 rounds I’ve put through it. I’m sure the BCM will prove just as reliable. I’m just stoked I found it new for the price I got it at.
The obvious things considered like the shorter barrel of the BCM have been taken into account already.
I think of these 2 like comparing the Chevy Camaro Z28 vs, the Pontiac Firebird Formula. Both cool cars but different. Kind of like trying to decide which of your 2 daughters is your favorite…
I prefer Daniel Defense as more of their product comes from “in house”.
They are both quality, I am sure, and I have not heard anything negative about either.
In my own personal opinion you cant go wrong with either. I own examples from both brands as well as LMT, FN, Noveske and all are exceptional. At this point with the top tier brands the quality appears to be close to equal from what I have experienced. I just like owning different brands for the fun of it
Gunfun, where do you find better quality with LMT? I have DD, BCM and LMT and see all to be superb. BCM does offer the most choices in barreled upper configurations which helps get my business.
LMT, BCM, DD… all the same to me. I have not noticed much difference in the operation of any of these three in my own personal experience. Don’t hear about many problems with these three either. One thing about BCM is I have heard (not experienced 1st hand) of some issues with BCM not liking certain .223 ammo. I have not had this problem with my BCM but it may be something to think about. My only issue with LMT is the lack of parkerizing under the FSB but if the FSB is removed, LaRue gas blocks do a good job of covering the exposed steel. I don’t like how DD marks their rifles up like they are some type of race car. I like about everything else about these three.
Between the two rifles you asked about I would pick the BCM based solely on the gas port. BCM seems to have the gas port size dialed in better than any other manufacturer on their barrels.
