I would like to change my charging handle out with a BCM Gunfighter, but I am not sure which one to get the Mod 3 or Mod 4. It looks like the larger Mod 3 would be too big, but I was wanting to know what other members experiences are with the Mod 3 versus the Mod 4? Any personal info would be appreciated. Thanks
I’ve got 4’s in all of my carbines and prefer the smaller footprint I used to use Badger tac latches, then the smaller Badgers, and now these. As a left hander I think it gives me more positive control and doesn’t get in the way like the larger latches did, hanging on slings, or gear and everything else.
I went with the Mod 4 for my personal gun, and my dept. issue gun. The Mod 4 is actually fairly big, and is certainly big enough. Way better than a standard charging handle, but not HUGE like the Mod 3.
Mod 4
I’m an oddball I guess, because I prefer the larger Mod 3 GF CH. I like having the larger metal latch to grab ahold of and quickly pull it to the rear. Of course, I initially ran the Mod 4 for a while before switching primarily to the Mod 3 in my guns, and I never had an issue with NOT being able to grab ahold of the smaller Mod 4 and charging the weapon… so I guess it really boils down to personal preference in the end.
+1 Mod4.
It really surpassed all the hype and my own expectations. Being southpaw I have to put a considerable amount of pressure into the weapon instead of mostly straight back with a standard CH. With the Mod4 I can just swipe at it and it engages and it’s not so big it becomes obtrusive.
Mod 4’s on all mine as well. The 3’s handle protrudes too much and creates an unnecessary snag hazard, for me anyways. If I was in the market for a 7.62 AR, I’d probably go the Mod 3 route.
4’s in guns with RDS’s and 3’s with guns with scopes.
I have the larger one. Next time I will get the smaller one but I don’t mean to imply that I don’t like the large handle.
Both are fantastic compared to a standard charging handle.
I’m with reteat, i run the #3 on 4 rifles[AR’s] 1 gas buster PRI,spr AR, and we put an 308 #4 on a co-workers LMT mrp308 rifle. as a lefty it works great w/plenty to grab when practicing malfunction drills, have not had any equipment[plate carrier or sling] issues hanging up thus far,
Mod 3 for me.
I happy with my Mod 4, and can’t imagine needing or wanting it any larger. Mod 4 will stick into the gut a little when slung, but it’s not bad. I know the mod 3 would be worse.
I have one mod 4 and it’s more then big enough for me. I think I’m going to try the mod 5 next.
As noted above, Mod3s work well with large-ocular-lens scopes.
Mod4s for anyting else.
Mod 4 for me. Big enough to get purchase on, not too big to jab me.
Mod 3 here - running with larger optic.
Mod 4 running a RDS and haven’t had any problems.
I would probably get a Mod 3 if I had a rifle scope just for the added clearance and leverage.
Thanks to everyone for the info, I was leaning toward the mod 4 and I will probably go with it.
the mod 4 is the perfect size. get 1 or 10.
Mod 4. It’s the perfect size w/o snagging issues.
