BCM Gunfighter Compensator vs. Rainier Arms XTC *VIDEO COMPARISON*

Ok, so please keep in mind that this comparison was not meant to be scientifically viable in any way. The main purpose was to show the difference in the flash suppression capabilities of each muzzle device (the second half of the video shows this better than the first). It is somewhat difficult to draw any firm conclusions concerning the muzzle rise and impulse reducing capabilities of both muzzle devices, considering that the AR with the XTC had both a longer and heavier profile barrel (16" government profile vs. 14.5" pencil barrel) and was heavier in general (8.1 lbs. vs. 7.5).

Keeping the above considerations in mind, here were my observations:

  1. The BCM Gunfighter definitely had superior flash suppressing capabilities.
  2. The XTC seemed to be more effective at mitigating impulse–again, hard to definitely say given the differences between the two rifles aside from their muzzle devices.
  3. Both seemed to control muzzle rise quite well, with a slight edge to the XTC.
  4. The BCM was noticeably less concussive (something that doesn’t come out well in the video).

Obviously, I’m quite happy with both muzzle devices, as they are both of superior quality and design. However, in an indoor environment, I would probably choose the BCM due to its better flash hiding capability as well as the fact that it’s not quite as concussive.

Also, I thought it would be helpful to provide a picture comparison so you can see the difference in the flash/gas dispersion between the two muzzle devices. Each picture is within .34 seconds of the next.

Great! Thanks.

I would’ve liked to see an A2 for comparison.

Thank you for the review.

What ammo was being used for each?

Thank you for the video review. Shame the brakes can’t be swapped out with one another for a slightly better head to head comparison.

Nice. thanks for taking the time to make the video.

It’d be cool to see a brief version of the test at night with XM193.

Both comps serve their purposes in their individual applications. I personally prefer the BCM for indoor CQB with my fellow team mates especially when your doing dynamic entries in real tight spaces. My fellow team mates have also purchased the BCM comps and they love them.

Anyone heard anything (even rumors) on when the Mod0 will be released?

Dude… no way… it’s available at bravo right now. FAR OUT! :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably just me, but is that xtr timed correctly?

Well son of a… gun. Never even got the email notification I signed up for last night.

Right on. :dirol:

Did you get one ordered?

Well, yeah, it is. Or at least, I hope it is! It was installed by Rainier Arms.

I ordered one a few hours ago, I have the Mod 1 going on a 14.5 SOCOM barrel but wanted to try Mod 0 for my 18" SPR build.

They are both showing in stock right now.

Its in my cart, trying to figure out if it comes with a crush washer or not.

I would guess “Yes”. Click “order” before they gone!

Interesting.

This might be nitpicking… But that’s an XTC isn’t it?
Looks like my XTC…

Way to be the devil on my shoulder, there, Mark. :stuck_out_tongue:

Got to get that BCM commission check! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, it’s an XTC. For some reason, M4C won’t let me edit title…
