Is this as good as the crane o ring? Or what do you guys recommend as I have an S&W M&P and am sure it needs the upgrade as most carbines do as I havent shot it yet.

A Crane O-Ring comes with the kit (FYI).

If you have an M&P with an LMT BCG, then yes, it has a Crane O-Ring already installed.

Yes 100%, I was buying these things before BCM was offering them.David Tubb was(is) selling the extractor/ejector spring set for $13 bucks,The Price that BCM is selling them is a steal.Also, replace your buffer spring with a CS spring, it will last you a loooooooong time and one less PM thing you have to worry about.
I believe he was saying that the current production models of the M&P come with the BCM bolt carrier group. I just bought one and it came with the black insert, beefed up spring, and O-ring.

I had a finicky 10.5 and the 5 coil spring from Paul solved my issues. He generally recommends that the spring is SO stout that you can forego using the O-Ring.
Cheap insurance and Paul is a good dude.
Depends on what your set up is now. They’re great for carbean gas systems with unknown spring/insert combos.
If you have a carbine gas system, yes they are.

Also, I do use the same upgrade on my 20in rifles as well(i use a black insert with my 20in rifles also) … had no malfunctions, that were related to the upgrade in 6k rounds.
I don’t run the black insert on my rifle length gas systems, and Double Dang DEFINITELY don’t run the O ring on my rifles.
Forgot to say i dont run the O ring in my 20in just the spring.
I believe now that the Military uses the black extractor inserts on their A2’s.
I would not run the Crane O-Ring on gun with a rifle length gas system.
