BCM A5 Kit

I was perusing the Bravo Company USA site this afternoon and found this little gem: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Intermediate-Buffer-System-A5-Kit-p/bcm-intermediate-shk.htm. Eight positions vice the seven offered by Vltor. Hopefully we can purchase lowers with this kit in the near future.

Where are you seeing 8 position?

Here: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Intermediate-Receiver-Extension-A5-Buffer-Tub-p/bcm-intermediate-re.htm

The images on BCM’s website show 8 holes.

It doesn’t say specifically, but look at the pictures. I count 8 index points.

I would imagine they added another position to make the gunfighter stock and other standard carbine length stocks work with the a5 receiver extention. If this is the case, great! I almost bought the 7 position version yesterday. Glad I waited.

You probably want the 6 Position

Watch “Vltor A5 Buffer System 7 vs 6 Position + Stock Co…” on YouTube

The RE-10 tubes (6-position) work with most stocks.

Tagged for further info…

They do work. There’s difference between not closing all the way and not working.

That’s what I meant. Closing all the way.

8 positions… hrm. I might have to get this for my .308 ARs…

COOL! Now i have to get one to fiddle with.
I bet Joel at V7 had some involvement with this. The relief cuts on the notch rail are similar to the V7 buffer tube. We know V7 and BCM have collaborated before, and I remember V7’s Facebook page saying they were working on a A5 buffer tube. Good idea either way. I want to see a video. I wonder how the revised notch locations will play with longer stocks like the E-Mod, ACS, STR, and MOE-SL?

First and last positions are probably the same as on the VLTOR 7 position RE with finer adjustments in between.

Page says it comes with the Vltor A5H0 Buffer. Seems strange to not use the same weight as what the standard Vltor A5 kits come with, the A5H2 (5.33 oz).

Their description needs some editing I think.

The BCM® Intermediate Buffer System (A5) Kit, uses an intermediate length BCM® receiver extension machined from 7075T6 Aluminum, A M16 rifle action spring, and a Vltor A4 buffer.
These components are intended to work as an improved buffer system that can be used on rifle with carbine, mid-length, and rifle length gas systems.

Please note, the components in this system are NOT intended to be mixed with buffer, action springs, and receiver extensions of a traditional M4 carbine buffer system.

The BCM® Intermediate Buffer System (A5) Kit includes:

Vltor A5H0 Buffer (3.8oz)

BCM® Intermediate Receiver Extension Tube
BCM® QD End Plate
Milspec Castle Nut
Rifle Action Spring

Is the M16 Rifle spring different than the Vltor A5 spring? Wraps, Compression specs?

If they are using a lighter buffer, then maybe the spring is a bit more stout to compensate.

This is what have on my rifle with a MOE

They’re the same spec wise.

Thanks for the info, but I want the latest and greatest. If the 8 position RE works with standard stocks, that’s what I’m going with.

Funny you mention that. We had our tube developed, then Joel called me and told me that he was making a M4 tube with lightning cuts. I told him that we’re doing the same, but with an A5/AR10 tube. So I sent him an image and in return, he did the same of his M4 tube. They were almost exact! Funny how things work out. Great minds think alike

BTW, the Bravo Spring is the exact same spec to the Vltor A5 spring. Please keep in mind that there are two types of M16 spring, MilSpec and Commercial. The commercial spring is much weaker them Milspec. Bravo and Vltor use MilSpec.

Finally, that added position on the tube was intended for the Gunfighter Stock and similar stocks, like the Vltor IMod.
