the first mistake was calling something unbreakable
True story: my college roommate freshman year had one of those extra rugged watches that was supposed to be unbreakable. Maybe a $150 diving/sports watch. A guy across the hall (a bit of a jerk) heard him talking about it and said “let’s see about that.” I guess it was peer pressure or not wanting to be seen as weak with your new college collegues, but my roommate said ok. A few minutes later after the watch had been hurled down 2 flights of stairs onto a concrete floor, it was proven to not be unbreakable. To the watch’s credit, it survived some impressive whacks before that. The lessons from that: 1. don’t claim anything is unbreakable and 2. don’t let jerks try to break your stuff.
I had to send the link to my son who is the king of cell phone destruction including dropping one into the bonfire and having it still work for over 24 hours.
I swear he used to drop his phone at least once every day! He is better now that I have run out of old phones and now is has to buy (or charm) his way to a new phone. He actually had a pretty girl at his school “give” him a phone that she did not use anymore that was nicer than any he has ever had…
