I’m just curious if any of you have tried this, and what kind of success you got. It seems like the battlecomp 1.5 might have less flash output than the stock '74 muzzle brake…
There are threading issues. The AKs are left hand threads.
But not if the barrel is threaded to 1/2 x 28"…
The 1.5 would work very well if the threading is actually 1/2-28 RH.

Prototype AKBC’s:
5.45

and 7.62

When the AK BattleComp comes out, I will probably buy a few…
One of those definitely needs to be on my SGL31-94!!!
It’s available in their store. —> CLICK
Didn’t realize that…
Thanks for the link…
Just note that the model on the website is for 14x1mmLH threads (traditional AK-47 pattern). They will not fit the M24x1.5 threads on the AK-74 style Fsb.
Awesome. Have you test fired these? Just curious how recoil and muzzle rise mitigation compares to the stock '74 brake. Do you think it’s worth it on an AK-74?
Absolutely. We ran both 24mm prototypes at the Vickers AK class in Chino in September. Of course, we’re biased, but they work exactly like BattleComps.
Peshawar built the AK74 I ran with the prototype 24mm 5.45 brake you see in the pic. Not a single hiccup with any of the guns we ran in the class, and Stuart knows how to plumb them.
The 5.45 is already a soft shooter, but putting a BattleComp was incredibly easy to control. Mild concussion, and significantly less flash than the slant brake. It will spoil you, to be sure.
Just my $.02, YMMV.
Just note that the model on the website is for 14x1mmLH threads.

Will the 5.45 version work with the 5.56 round as well? I assume these would be interchangeable? I’m actually having my muzzle threaded to 1/2 x 28, so I’m guessing I’ll want the BC 1.5.
according to an earlier search I ran on here, the SLR-106 has 24x1.5mm RH threading as well, so I’m watching this with great interest.
If the barrel is threaded with a true 1/2x28 RH and has the appropriate shoulder for timing with some type of washer system (which means no notch needed for the detent pin), yes, the BC1.0-1.5-2.0 could work.
If the detent pin is still part of the mounting system, a notch for the pin at 12 o’clock is necessary and not presently available…
I’m going to run a gas block / front sight base combo and thread the muzzle. What kind of washer system did you have in mind?
The typical AR style of mounting utilizes a crush washer or shim washers. The AK uses a spring loaded pin in the sight base to positively locate the device. If you use this system the comp will need to have the notch added at the 12 o’clock location. If you have enough flat surface area and no detent pin you might be able to use a crush or shim washers.

Ugh, BattleComp…
Why do you insist on constantly taking my money from me?
The only thing I don’t like about my AK-74’s are the OAL with the factory muzeel brake.
Wouldn’t it a 5.45 with one of these pinned to give a 16" “barrel” length be a handy little carbine?
