So I just picked myself up a serpa holster for my 1911. I want to mount it on my battle belt. It is going to be on my right. Deciding whether to move it back to the 4-5 o’clock and angle the rear sight down or at the 3 and move my ifak on my pc back so it is not sitting on top of my pistol. Thoughts? Moving the holster back and being angled to easily grip just seems awkward compared to it being at the 3…
I wouldnt put your IFAK on your Plate Carriers back. You’ll want easier access to it when you ND your 1911 into your leg because of the SERPA.
Is there something about serpas I don’t know about yet…?

You can use the search function to find much more info on the topic. Sorry to be so blunt about it.
And am I reading it wrong about the IFAK on your back? Or were you saying putting it “back on” your PC?
Thanks for the info. As I have been wondering why a lot of pistol course say no serpas. I was referring to moving it back more so as to not impede on my draw.
Well if you’re going to do that…
The farther back it goes the harder it will be to get to. Which is fine if you’re the one that gets tagged. The first person to you can get to it and use the supplies on you.
If you wish to do this at least get a small bleeder kit to keep on your belt in addition to the IFAK on your PC. That way you can spin the belt around to reach it with either hand should one of your hands become ineffective.
I understand your unit may have SOPs about what you “must” have on you. In addition to the inability to reach it, the IFAK closer to your 6 O’Clock is a pain in the ass in a vic or with any type of pack on
Good point. I was thinking the same. As far as my serpa looks like I am taking it back.
Thoughts on the g code holster with the 3 row claw? Looking at that since serpa is garbage. How is the retention, hold upside down?
Dammit, almost lost the whole cup of coffee there, even funnier because it is along the lines of what my first thought was myself!
OP, glad to hear you are losing the serpa. Personally I would recommend Safariland, their ALS holsters have pretty much become the standard nowadays.
Buy a different holster. The SERPA is unsafe junk that many instructors do not allow in their classes.
I was. looking at that one too. I need one that is molle compatable. The als I seen was drop leg.
+100. The Safariland ALS is what I went to when I ditched my SERPAs. One of the best options out there IMO
They look like a quality product but I can’t find a molle compatable one. I hate droplegs with a passion.
You need this: http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=MLS%2015
I completely agree with you about drop leg holsters. I have a Safariland ALS on my battle belt (molle attachments), and I just used the Molle adapter. Looks like bdcheung posted a link. You can pick one up for pretty cheap and they work well.
I think this is a little bit better link.
Sure. I suppose it depends on which holster he ends up getting.
Nice, thanks for links. Does it only mount straight up and down or can I angle it? That is the big thing for me with the g code. I do like the als more though.
There’s some cant adjustment where the MOLLE fork screws onto the holster.
Sweet, where is a good place to buy them for a good price?
