I am interested in these barrels but have not been able to find any info aside from marketing material and specs. The “Reviews” I have seen online are more like product intros which more than less paraphrase the description on the BAD website, about as useful as a YouTube unboxing video. I am yet to read a review from someone who has actually used the product.
If anyone can point me to a useful review it will be much appreciated.
-Furthermore can anyone tell me who makes the barrel blanks for these? Does BAD finish the blanks or are the made elsewhere and stamped “BAD”?
What other barrels are similar and would be considered to be direct competitors?
I am willing to bet that there are less than a dozen manufacturers of rifled pipe in the states. You are wasting your time asking who does what for who. I know nothing abut BAD barrels but their reputation is very good. I doubt they would put their name on anything that wasn’t first class.
At that price point, comparable competitors are the Rainier Arms Ultramatch series and Noveske. Unless you are a world class precision shooter, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference between them.
In fact, you could probably “step down” a tier and still not tell a difference.
Yes they look very similar but…comparing the specs the B.A.D is 6.6 ounces lighter! Different rifling as well, 6 groove rifling vs 5 groove on the NTD. I you’re going for a light weight build the B.A.D., at only $75 more, is a good way to save almost half a pound.

To the OP…like yourself, I’m interested in this barrel as well. I’ve scoured the internet for reviews…nothing. I’ve seen a couple builds on you tube using the barrel. But no reviews on performance…yet. I’m sure there will be a few soon. The barrel has only been out in the wild for about 6 weeks.
BTW, I talked to B.A.D. 2 months ago…everything is done in house.
".everything is done in house. " - Interesting… my understanding was that it takes a large capital investment to get into the production end of the barrel business. Thats why most barrel makers outsource production of their blanks at the least…
Everything is a big word when making a barrel is discussed. If they are bringing bar stock in the back door and sending finished barrels out the front they are building barrels for someone besides themselves.
Haven’t worked on precision with it yet so can’t speak to this. Bullets hit where I wanted running drills with frangible ammo. Prone on gravel with an RDS at 100yds leaves too much human error. Sorry can’t be more help.
