Gettin closer to finalizing build plans and have another question. How would one go about toting around an extra CR2032 battery for an optic? I think they’re the flat ones IIRC. Would one fit inside of a MOE grip or Vltor original modstock or imod tube compartment? I’m aware that batteries rarely need to be replaced, but I always want to have a spare just in case. Thanks!
Yes, there flat, about the size of a quarter. They will fit on a MIAD grip and the VTOR mod stock. don’t know about the IMOD Tube. there for CR123 batts which would be smaller. My guess is no. Put in a small zip lock baggy and your good.
depending on what optic mount your using, you would be able to stash one under a LaRue T-1 mount.
My 14.5" middy has the T1 sight. I have a trapdoor type pistol grip sold by Bushmaster. I have numerous extra parts inside it, including a firing pin, ejector/extractor parts, extra gas rings, and TWO spare CR2032 batteries. I keep the parts in tiny ziplock baggies so they don’t get banged around inside there together and keeps them dry and clean.
I have a foam insert stuck in the bottom of my Larue F.U.G. VFG and I lay one of these flat on the top of the insert and then screw down the base. It fits perfect, and leaves my tango down battle grip free to hold two 123’s for my weaponlight. I know you can fit the CR2032’s inside the tango down VFG’s as well. They also fit in the trap door compartment of the ACS and the UBR, but it would held to fassion a foam insert with slots cut into it to keep them from banging around.
I store a few in one of the modified contact lense cases described in the link below. It fits in a MOE handguard and I have no worries about a zip lock leaking, someone stepping on them, etc. plus I throw one in the bottom of my range bag.
Maybe I’m the only one who does this, but I use the CR123 battery core on the MOE grip for all of my rifles, and I find there is just enough room to slide one CR2032 battery in its original blister pack right next to the core, as you insert it in the MOE grip.
Simple, nothing fancy – and as such, I have one set of spare batteries for my X300 AND my T1. Weighs next to nothing.
Just wondering, is the blister pack water tight? I’ve put my spares in the contact case and don’t have a blister pack to examine but I thought the back of the blister pack was just cardboard?
I like the KAC battery covers. I’ll order 2 and if I like them 2 more. After $2000.00 to $2500.00 on many builds when you add T-1’s and Scout lights what’s $38.00?
Glad press and seal around the blister pack is plenty, even for hours of submersion. If you want it really sealed up, bring it to Kinko’s for a quick lamination.
