Bates Boots Gx-8 Side zip

I have a friend doing the Seal Training program / seal camp. (Training camp for civilian looking for a a little extreme training) On the equip list they told him to show up in these boots. I’ve always worn Danner. Any opinions on these boots. The reviews I read where all good. Any feedback on Bates or this exact boot? I am sure they are good enough, or they wouldn’t suggest them. It made me think about grabbing a pair. Except I would like some Tan, not black.

Feedback ?

Bates werent authorized for shipboard use when I was in the Navy as a DC. I did wear a similar version while off the ship and they were very comfortable.
I am very happy with the Converse boots as well as the Rocky S2V.
Matterhorn and Beretta also make a really good boot.

I’ve been on concrete about all my life…My feet are real sensitive to the type of foot wear i use…I was wearing the danner’s for some time. In an effort to find something more reasonably priced i went to the bates…W/out a zipper. I found the bates to be just about as comfortable as the danners and i got about the same amount of wear as far as time. the bates are 1/2 the price of the danners. You might also check out the SWAT boots. I have worn these with good results…I dont wear out a boot. But being on concrete all the time, i just seem to walk them down…they start to hurt my knees and my back…everyone’s feet are different and the only real way you will know is to buy a pair and try them…
