Barrett REC7 in 5.56

Looks like the REC7 is now available in 5.56. Yet another piston 5.56 in the fray.

Barrett continues to expand this product line by adding the popular 5.56 NATO chambering cartridge to the lineup. The much-anticipated addition has caught the attention of many law enforcement customers. Many improvements have been made to the REC7 line, with many new enhancements included. The most visual changes are the Daniel Defense free-float rail system and Magpul® MOE® six-position stock.

The Barrett Enhanced Piston-specific Bolt is made from 9310 steel and is nickel-Teflon® coated. Along with the new extractor, these features increase durability. Each bolt is proofed and magnetic-particle tested to guarantee reliable performance. Machined from 8620 steel, the nickel-Teflon coated anti-tilt bolt carrier features an integral piston strike face.

If you’re not doing something new. Don’t do it.

At least most of the other piston ARs do something new.

LWRCi, and LMT come to mind.

Without trying to turn this into a 15 page thread about Dick Swan, his products, who he voted for, or who donates money to –

I did find it interesting that they went from the ARMS rails to DD rails.

I’ve never used an ARMS rail, but from using DD rails on DI and GP guns.

I love them. Almost as much as my beloved KAC rails.

Because Ronnie Barrett is not a fool and if you get a chance to cut-n-run from Dick Swan you do!

Now that is a Barrett rifle I could get interested in! Especially in 6.8. Glad to see the switch to DD.
