Barrel work?

I’m looking to get the barrel on my Ruger M77 Mark II threaded (finally going the suppressed route), and was wanting to have a rail installed on the reciever at the same time (to accept common optics mounts) (1913 pic rail)… like this one:

Who can I send it to and have it all done at the same time? Or would it be better to use different companies for some reason? I;ve heard of people using ADCO a lot for Barrel work, but didn’t know what other options there were and if they would even work on the reciever for me…

Is there an ADCO rep on this forum to speak with?

Thanks

Bobby

This is something that a good gunsmith can do if you have one in your area.

Ok, thanks.

Any ideas on finding a gunsmith in the Central KY area? The only smith I know now works for Bud’s in Lexington, and I’m not sure he will, or CAN, accept any outside projects…

Is there some sort of directory to check, similar to finding an FFL?

Thanks again,

Bobby

George at GA Precision can do the work and is at the top of many departments and shooters list’s for this type of work. They are in Kansas City, MO.

You can always check with Drew at W.A.R. Rifles in Manassas Park VA. 703.367.0078 http://www.warriflesonline.com/

I’d have real confidence in anyone that Robb suggests. Robb’s worked on several of my firearms, and the work was perfect. He’s not going to steer you wrong.

If you just have to have a local smith, these folks are in Louisville, and pretty well regarded.

One of the gentlemen that runs the place is a member here, and uses the screen name Mr. Smith. You might chat with him. He might be able to steer you to someone locally, if he cannot do the work.

Sound like a neat project. Be sure and put up a photo in the precision bolt gun thread when you are done, I’d be interested in how it turns out.

I didn’t HAVE to have anyone local, just didn’t know who was well-regarded among the masses here for that type of work.

I will put up some pics, but it’s nothing too spectacular. Just a Raptor 4x NV scope and an AAC suppressor… but it should be fun! I was wanting the rail welded on to avoid using two ARMS adaptors to mount the Raptor to the Weaver base on the rifle in stock configuration.

So Robb, anyone in the country (reasonably priced, of course), would you still send it to the group you suggested? Is there another option to consider?

Thanks all,

Bobby
