barrel break in.

Okay, so I know if you have a steel barrel you need to break it in. But what about stainless, and chrome lined barrels? Do these need to be broke in? Or is it just lock and load and send rounds down range?

Just shoot it.

From what i know, Just don’t heat up the barrel too hot on SS.

other than that, just shoot it!!!

Stainless, chrome-moly, chrome-lined…just shoot it.

.

You should shoot one shot, run a dry patch through the gun, then pour a 1/2 cup of Jack Daniels through the chamber and catch it into a cup at the muzzle. Wait 5-minutes, pour another 1/2 cup of JD through the chamber and catch it in the same cup at the muzzle. Wait 10-minutes, do the same thing with a whole cup of JD, run a patch through the gun, then, drink the used “bore cleaner” and call it a day. :haha:

Noveske’s recommendations.

Just shoot it!

in case it hasn’t been mentioned, just shoot it.

That’s the best method I heard yet.

Most do not own or will own a Krieger, Rock or Noveske true match grade SS barrel thus you get…“just shoot the thing” remarks.

I have always rolled w. the Krieger method and mentality on my high end SS barrels and perhaps they would have been the same amazing performers they are currently w/o me doing the breakin process, Id rather not risk losing any accuracy because I was lazy.

you know what John Noveske says about break it?

“just shoot it.”

lol okay thanks guys. Looks like I will just go ahead and shoot it. thanks

And… Just shoot it.

Actually I do own a Noveske SS barrel and I did the “just shoot it” thing as well. I am still able to pull about 1 MOA out of it after 3 years.

Derek Martin of Accuracy Speaks says… go shoot it. Don’t fart around with a break in procedure.

A break in procedure is really only going to help if you start with a piece of crap barrel with lots of burrs in it.

I seen a guy clean his barrel after every shot, i was curious so i went up and asked him what he was doing and told me that he was breaking in his barrel. Never heard of doing it i just went out and shot my rifle the day after i got it. But i didnt go by too much what he was saying after he told me he was a “operator” and his bushy was the best rifle on the market.

Exactly…complete BS. Just shoot it.

Was he working for AT&T or Verizon?

In the old days we had a very good method of breaking in a new barrel.

Shoot five rounds at 25 yards. Go back to 50 yards and shoot five more.
The last five are fired at 100 yards.

This way you don’t strain your barrel by shooting it too far right away.

Ha lol by the looks of him hes not even qualified to do that lol Every thing he seemed to be talking about seemed to be learned off of call of duty or youtube videos or what ever the cool people are playing now. But i did ask if he was prior military and he said no so at least he didnt lie about that.

Sniper-rifle bolt gun = no.

Just shoot it!
