Bangor Daily News request CCW permit holder info

http://www.pressherald.com/news/Bangor-newspaper-seeks-names-of-concealed-carry-permit-holders.html

Storm’s on the horizon and it isn’t snow.

I like the Gov’s attitude, as quoted in the link you posted:

Gov. Paul LePage displays his concealed-carry permit in a photo posted to his Twitter account Thursday afternoon. “If newspapers would like to know who has concealed weapons permits, then they should know the governor has his,” LePage tweeted"

I’d like to see the police “comply” by handing them a telephone book and saying “Here they are. They’re in there somewhere.” Either that or keep putting BDN’s request at the bottom of the To-do list. Then again, things have a way of accidentally falling into the shredder.
I like LePage’s attitude as well.

Was pretty pissed about this earlier this morning. They have said they are retracting the claim.

BDN is owned by Chellie Pingree’s husband. (She’s a far wingnut leftist)

Hopefully enough people were pissed enough about this that they get to close up shop for good now.

Maine is like my second home and out of respect for the local L/E department I went over to introduce myself and give them a copy of my credentials once the National L/E Carry Law went into affect just so they had a idea of my description and vehicle info just in case something happen.

The nice folks there told me that “Paperwork” was not necessary and invited me to shoot several times on their range.

Maine is a really decent Pro 2A place away from the big cities.

It now appears that the BDN has dropped their request for the information.

However (there’s always a ‘however’)

A “mystery” group/individual called “Celebration Connect” has issued a request for the same information and appears to have connections with the Portland Press Herald.

Hopefully LD345 passes quickly.

Maine’s unofficial motto is “Maine, the way life should be.” but lately it’s looking more like “Maine, we wanna be like Massachusetts!”

I would agreed with the two largest cities becoming a little to liberal for my liken but out in the sticks were I move about its the way life should be.

This just in: Bangor Daily News posted an article about why CCW permits should remain public.
Caution: waders and nose plugs required for reading!

I’ve lived in Bangor pretty much my entire life. I’m really not very surprised.

The paper (BDN) is near bankrupt and just trying to get some publicity - good or bad. They really are a joke!

Maine has decent firearm laws, I guess, but the overwhelming majority of this state is liberal so once our current (republican) governor is out of office then I think we’ll see an attack on the 2A here in Maine. They’ll ban high capacity magazines and “assault” rifles for “our safety” then claim that they are still preserving Maine’s hunting heritage by letting us own a single shot rifle, blah blah blah.

Our current governor Paul LePage is this damned states only saving grace right now. Go figure that everybody here bashes him and says he is the worst governor we’ve ever had based on the fact that he is very conservative and very pro gun.

Remind me to never buy one of their papers again.
