Anyone have a suggstion on getting a helmet cover to stay in place when using one on the old PASGT and using pads in the helmet instead of the headband?
Are you using the elastic band on the outside of the helmet?

For the portion of the cover that goes inside the helmet, attach some velcro to it and stick it to the pad velcro or add more…
I use a MICH, mainly because it was good to go when i got it in 2004 and it’s hard for me to justify replacing it. If I had no helmet at all, I’d probably roll with a gunfighter or the new Ops-Core. I don’t have much of a problem with NODs on my MICH. In the past, I’ve had a kind similar to those pictured, but they had a separate battery pack that I stuck on the back of the helmet; that really helped balance the whole thing out.
I’ve tried contacting Grey Group that advertises the MSA Gunfighter…to no avail. Thats disappointing.
A colleague of mine ordered a Mach III directly from RBR. With creds, he got it for $328.
Since we’re on the topic of helmets, anyway: I’ll likely be getting one of the Ops-Core VAS shrouds. My MICH isn’t drilled to mount one, so who in the DC Metro area can I get to tap it out so that the ballistic protection of the helmet isn’t compromised? Or elsewhere, for that matter.
I’m relatively certain that I’ll dork it all up if I try to do it myself.

Who did you try to contact?? Did you call?? We have a bunch of helmets (MSA’s and Ops Core’s) in stock. Of course, it depends on size, model, color, hole configuration, etc. We also have the VAS shrouds, chin straps, and helmet rails in stock.
Yes and im thinking of either using 100mph or cutting the interior to keep it from flapping. This thread reminded me I had my old issue Kevlar still that I purchased because of a paperwork FUBAR.

Botach Tactical (is a gamble I know) has MSA MICH ACH for $299.99. Most colors/sizes in stock. It’s the standard version though, not the side cut tactical wet dream version.

Do you use the sicky hook & loop or do you super glue standard hook & loop. I find when it gets near 90+ degrees, the sticky-side hook & loop will not hold.
Gorilla Glue is fantastic for that sort of thing, and easy to get at any Lowe’s/Home Depot.
EDIT: Helps if maybe I read, huh? Given your location, Gorilla is…somewhat less available.
No worries, I never wear a helmet anyways.

how does the gentex helmet / pads compare to the helmets already stated? which hole pattern is universal or highly regarded?
I have not tried yet. I’m skeptical about Gorilla glue though as that stuff tends to foam up as it dries.
If it helps, I used Gorilla to set Velcro in place on the exterior of a USMC-issue “Lightweight” helmet while in-country in 2004. There was some foaming, as you mentioned, but that stuff hasn’t budged laterally or peeled. Same with what could have been a catastrophic crack on the top of my Taktikka. That stuff’s like Frank’s Red Hot: I use that s**t on EVERYTHING.
I still prefer to use light epoxy, if available, for plastic/polymer repairs, but I have yet to have Gorilla fail me. Sample size of one, I know.
