Apparently this vest is coming to market soon.
It seems very similar to the Paraclete RBAV 07. The comments about this vest that stand-out to me are the adjustability and comfort. I don’t know exactly why though.
Apparently ATS is going to get them, but haven’t been dropped yet. Link
I am looking for someone with experience with the Paraclete RBAV 07 and the Eclipse RBAV to give their opinion of the two. I like the RBAV, and the 07 version seems to recify some issues, but so does the Eclipse RBAV, at a lighter weight.
I do not intend for this to turn into a bashing of either product, or introduction of unrelated products. Just a discussion on what is good, bad, or indifferent with these two vests.
I have a RMV (05 type) made after MSA bought Paraclete. I have been very happy with their quality and have been looking at the new RBAV 07’s and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another if I need one.
This vest does seem to have a smaller signature than a Paraclete, and looks lighter too.
Diamondback Tactical also has 3 or 4 new vest designs coming out that I’m trying to get info on.
You may have to revive this post when more info comes available.
As noted, it is an alternate for the CIRAS. Similar to the Land variant. The BAE RBAV was designed by Matt Johnson, the same person who developed the CIRAS for Eagle. He was able to drop weight in a number of ways, including the use of 500d Cordura, but enhanced the design to beef up stress points.
Feedback so far has been really good, but there are only a handful of the vests outside of SOCOM. Production on them is going and dealers are supposed to be getting them fairly shortly.
Pricing looks to be better than the CIRAS, as well. I believe retail is right around $325 or so (but don’t quote me on that!!).
Hoping to have a sample in shortly with some on hand to sell, as well. Also, I know ATS and Supply Captain are planning on stocking the BAE line.
One other thing to note for those LEOs out there, they will be introducing, very shortly, an LE version of the RBAV that incorporates Velcro into the MOLLE on the upper chest and upper back of the vest.
Its a good rig and I wholeheartedly throw my endorsement of the overall design concept. I was pleasantly surprised at the weigh differential between my XL RBAV and the XL CIRAS
